All those Mardi Gras street sweepers and not one curling talent?
No alpine (Indian Mounds) skills born at LSU?
All those car jackers and not one bobsledding athlete?
What gives?

Google says Sheryl Franks from NOLA competed in the 1980 games in mixed pair figure skating

I knew a junior national downhill ski racer from Metairie but he blew out one of his legs before he could compete for the Olympic team. One of his thigh muscles detached from his knee during a downhill and balled up at the top of his thigh. What he described did not sound fun. That was the end of his racing career.

Buck Levy was the first Louisianan to compete in the Winter Olympics. He was in the Army, stationed in Colorado at Camp Hale at the time of the 1956 Winter Olympics, and attended Western State College in Gunnison. Levy later attended LSU Medical School and became a general practitioner, first in Long Beach, California, but later for many years in Sun Valley, Idaho. He also continued to stay active, spending some time as a ski instructor, running 37 marathons, and competing in cross-country ski marathons. Levy also became a close friend of pro golfer David Duval, who frequently took holidays in Sun Valley.

Sheryl Franks skated pairs with Michael Botticelli. Together they won the Eastern US Pairs Championship in 1977-79. They were also third at the US Championships from 1977-80, qualifying them for the World Championships each year. At the Worlds they placed ninth in 1977-79, and 10th in 1980. Together they skated professionally with Ice Chips until 1991. Franks later became a skating coach, forming her own academy, The Sheryl Franks Creative Skating Academy in West Newton, Massachusetts.
