If you take judging out of your mind and think about the amazing things they do. I’ve said it before, these ladies are the best athletes on campus. No other athlete have to combine the level of skill to do what they can do with how they do it. Pole Vaulting is a close second IMO. Speed, power, jumping, agility, balance, on and on. Just crazy

Great stuff! Forgot Buggs has left and now Beam is under Haleigh “The Machine” Bryant. Good for both!

Gymnastics is impressive, but I won't allow golf slander.
Have you ever hit a 340 yard drive? Have you ever hit a 173 yard shot on the number, uphill, downwind, out of a questionable rough lie? Have you ever made a double breaking 35 foot putt as the wind whips and swirls sideways? Let's not act like there isn't nuance, precision, power and skill needed to be a high level golfer as well.

do you think they would beat a WR in a multi-event challenge?

McClain's beam routine was 10-worthy too. That 9.95 was a travesty.

It is by far the hardest game I’ve ever played. I have never been a long driver but medium and short game have been pretty good for a low 80’s guy. I have never been to the scratch level. I’ve made a number of short chips and long putts on so many courses. I even have a hole in one on a short par 3 at Magnolia Creek in League City. Not knocking any golfer like I said.

I respect golfers a ton.
But athletically, they are really not in the same class in my mind with sprinting, jumping, etc. gymnasts have to do it all.

To do backflips and land on a 4” wide piece of wood? Or run as fast as they do and contort their bodies in all sorts of ways on all of their events. Just saying they have to do it all.

i agree they are incredible, but i wouldnt say they are the best athletes on campus. can they hit a curveball? turn the double play? throw a bending curve? can they dunk? can they make a linebacker miss a tackle? hit a TE between the numbers at 40 yards?
I think if you had a tournament of champions with random events like ping pong and sprinting and such, you would be stunned at how talented the curiels and DJ thomases and trey'dezes and monster milam etc are. D1 athletes are incredible.

My granddaughter was a Level 8 gymnast when entering high school. She gave it up and joined the track team where she becane a state finalist in pole vault. Her coach told me a couple of the best pole vaulters he has coached were former gymnasts. She also competed in hurdles, long jump and triple jump and was outsdtanding performer in district meet as a sophomore. No doubt gymnasts are the best athletes on caampus.
