Area 6
42° 9mph NE wind

In my saddle on a ridge that I have 2 good bucks on camera traveling. Checked the weather and wasn’t supposed to get rain until 10am. Got in the tree, checked it again, now it’s saying rain at 7am. Hopefully it passes over and holds off until 10. Only looking for a good buck, because I don’t feel like cleaning a doe in the rain. Good luck to you and your son!

In a box looking over a small greenfield in hopes to catch the new 10 that showed up a couple of days ago. Hopefully he slips up. Gonna sit until the weather pushes me back to the camp. Good luck everyone.

You should see some fresh birds. Saw a frick ton Thursday and just a fraction of that amount yesterday. Must have left on wind shift. Shallows were icing up quickly while I was picking up. Mallards wouldn’t decoy for shite, greys wouldn’t even circle, just drop in decoys.

Primitive weapons deer hunt
Area 9 Marathon pipeline ROW
53 degrees, overcast and 9 mph east winds
NEF single shot 45/70 with 300 gr handloads
Said I was done for the season but here I sit with approaching rain? Co-worker invited me to his lease and said shoot the first 4 legged critter that walks out the swamp. I don’t feel like cleaning anything so it’ll be a wall hanger or nothing. Mainly just be happy if I can get back to truck before rain gets here. Good luck to everyone out today!

350 legend
Box on field with feeder
Came to shut off water and drain the camp, figured I'd hop on a stand for a bit, likely last one of the season. Freezer is full, no interest in cleaning anything that's not a trophy, and I don't like anyone enough to donate in this weather

Hell yeah B&B! You’re going to remember this one forever. I’d rather watch mine kill them, than shoot them myself.

As far as 4 legged critters go, I’ve seen a raccoon and a nutria so far. Come on 10 o’clock!

Good stuff, congrats to both of you. A memory that will last a lifetime

I told my son when he killed his first at 7 years old “you’re gonna kill a bunch of deer in your life. And probably going to forget about most of them. But you will never forget this one.”
Congrats to the young hunter!

Living vicariously through y'all for the next couple days. This ice storm in north Louisiana is putting a damper on my hunting plans. I’m at 68 sits for the season so I can’t complain. I’m hoping to get a few more before the season ends. Good luck!

Was a nice day for us out there on the water. We basically stayed in town today, did not go off shore at all. The forecast was not good for me to take my boat out then it just layed down today and was perfect for me to do so but I was not rigged for it so we stayed in and just fished for junk fish.
We caught a lot of mangroves inshore , a dozen or so grouper, a ton of small trout and a few keepers. I found a very nice rock pile today in the inlet using my side scan. Was a pretty good find here. We dont have a lot of places like that. Its pretty slick. We got set up on a incoming tide on it and caught some nice sheepshead, mangroves and even a few small Spanish hanging out on those rocks. Just draging a live shrimp on a heavy jighead.
Great day and yes, it was 83 deg out there.

Of course I saw 9 does this morning, which made me question if my freezer really was full, or if I wanted gift someone a deer.
Ended up getting down at 945, took a dump, packed up, washed out the coffee pot, before I started draining, and blowing out everything. Locked up the camp as the first drops started to fall, it was a full on rain by the time I got on the highway and hasn't stopped since. About as efficient as I could have been.
