Baseball topic - how long until failed minor leaguers play college baseball?

For guys who never played college baseball and went straight to the minors, I can see some guys who either never made it to the majors or languishing in the minors coming to play for LSU or other top schools.
Pay is not as attractive as in basketball and football, but a lot of minor league baseball players are making peanuts.
Are there any recent LSU recruits who would fit the bill?

Interesting. I can see the day when the minors consolidate again like they did in 2021. Let the colleges bear the cost of development, then shorten the track through the minors.
But to your point, if you get stuck a few years in A or AA, a college scholarship and some NIL could be attractive. They would be in the minority of athletes that might appreciate a college degree.

All they've got to do is sue. For whatever reason, judges have a hardon for going against the NCAA. Someone wants a 12th year because they had a cold their freshman year? Sure, let them have it.

Nice melt. Minor leaguers signed an MLB contract. NBA players in question never signed an NBA contract.
Hope this helps.

There is so much ignorance in your post, it’s hilarious.

There’s not much more they can do except consolidate all of Single A. Colleges can’t carry all the weight considering the amount of Latin Americans in the minors.

Well, can't they? Depends on the crazy boosters.

That’s like 10 schools nationwide because most places aren’t paying baseball players from the rev-share

Unlike basketball or football. Can't imagine there is much nil money in baseball.

They can and will just move more games to the spring training complex. I can see them eventually getting rid of single A entirely. The rumor currently is that they are going to remove high schoolers from the draft - also lends more credence to cutting at least one affiliate.

The top Latin American prospects currently agree to terms around the age of 14. College sports has gone off the rails, but I can’t see them inserting themselves into the absolute Wild West of Latin American baseball scouting. It is a completely different level

IF something this drastic happens, then you’ll see a major rise in the prospect leagues and whatnot. Too many cities have invested in upgrading ballparks to MLB specs, and now they’ll have that rug pulled out. I also thing those groups like Diamond Holdings will have a say.

Totally agree. These guys may or may not have gone to grade school, and half the time don’t have accurate birth certificates. Many have no English speaking backgrounds, or ideas how to function in a modern country. They will not thrive in a college setting.

None of this is accurate

MLB J2 signing and scouting blurs the line between amateur athlete recruiting and human trafficking. I am honestly surprised it hasn’t become a bigger deal, especially under the current admin. There are a few teams that refuse to engage, completely to a detriment to their on field product.
The question is if it ever gets to a point where LSU could recruit a kid from the Marlins complex or something
