He’s got a wife and two young daughters I think he’s an idiot
why would anyone care if he just used a simple safety rope? the pros/cons here make no sense to me

It's an awesome feat, and I've watched his documentary a few years back...but this just doesn't do it for me. I feel like it has to be on a tape delay, because there is a possibility of death and they aren't going to show a guy splattering like a bug live on netflix
I think for someone of his talents though, this is going to be a walk in the park relative to what he's used to. Have to think that the grip points are going to be duplicates all the way up

He's said climbing buildings is pretty straightforward because it's the same moves over and over. In this case it's two easy moves, one hard move and you just repeat it.

The fricked up thing is that that's part of the allure of watching it, no?

Not denying that. Morbid curiosity is real

His free solo climb of El Cap is, in my opinion, the greatest human feat ever accomplished. I watched the documentary in theatre my palms sweating the entire time
I would assume there’s going to be some type of delay so if something does go wrong nobody sees him fall to his death on live tv.

Just read on Yahoo it will be a 10 second delay. So we'll know if it goes off air mid climb that he's dead

Once he started a family he should never have free solo’ed anything ever again

I agree but I also think in order to do any of this shite to begin with he's just wired completely different than you or me. It's gotta be a hard thing to just turn off.

I think it is amazing what he is doing. I agree with the poster about his El Cap climb- one of the biggest feats in human history.
That being said, this has a feel of the specials that used to come on every so often with a guy crossing the Grand Canyon etc on a trapeze. They build up the hype but it will probably be anti-climactic. And that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Yep I think they even studied him in this regard. He's VERY calm when he's climbing.
But I'd still have thought he'd be able to assess risk/reward.
Anyone know how much Netflix is paying him for this?

The look on his coaches face as he approached free blast was all i needed to see. nothing about that was fake. Might not be the craziest part of the climb. Dude does that, says I am delighted, and spends his afternoon finger boarding.
