We should at least rise to,#3. Plus like I said South Carolina will lose on Valentine's day for sure the way we're playing now. If Koval keeps getting more aggressive and better hands we're unstoppable!!

She really needs to finally beat Dawn. If she doesn’t I don’t think she ever will

She was 2-1 vs Dawn before coming to LSU.

She’s got the team to beat Staley this year. I agree that it’s time to knock her off as an LSU coach.

Will/should probably jump South Carolina. But considering Texas dropped all the way to #4 last week after back to back losses. Nothing is going to change. LSU's non-conference schedule will keep LSU ranked lower.
LSU comfortably beat OU at one point being up 24 points in the 4th Quarter; OU comes back next game and beats USC.
My prediction is USC beats Vandy; LSU stays put and gets no credit for beating OU on the road. Chalky rankings with slight shuffling. UConn and UCLA are pretty much locks to finish the season 1/2. As they outclass the rest of their conferences. So at this point, the only way they'll give LSU a 1-seed is if LSU runs the table. LSU/Texas/USC/Vandy are all battling for the last 2 1-seeds. Including Vandy, but I'd be shocked if they can keep this run going considering they probably have the hardest remaining schedule in the country (well, maybe Tennessee).
1. UCONN
2. UCLA
3. Texas
4. South Carolina
5. Vanderbilt
6. LSU

couldn't care less about rankings. If they continue to handle their business, the goal is a 1 seed in the tourney.

Kim doesn't care about these rankings nor the SEC Championship. She has always said (both at LSU and Baylor) that she cares about getting into the NCAA Tourney and have home field at beginning of the Tourney.

If LSU continues to play well, there is still a shot at a #1 seed, especially if they can get at least one of the games vs SC and Texas.
If things stay relatively the same and the 4 top seeds remain as UConn, UCLA, South Carolina, and Texas and LSU stays as a 2-seed, they are guaranteed to be paired up in a region with either UConn or UCLA since Texas and SC are in our conference. Unless it has changed due to conference expansion, they try to keep teams from the same league from being 1-2 in a region.

Not even that though. The only ranking that really matters is finish Top 16 to host the 1st two rounds. Everything else is lagniappe in terms of postseason.
Also important to finish Top 4 in the SEC to guarantee placement in a different region from the other Top 4 SEC schools.

If they can win out I’d think they’d be a sure 1 seed .
At Texas and South Carolina look to be the toughest games but at Ole Miss won’t be easy either.

Transitive property still gets people. Oklahoma is actually a good team and no shame for South Carolina to lose on the road in overtime to them. The Gamecocks also just beat Texas so it will be a battle. The SEC is competitive as hell at the top this year, love it.
Agree, a first seed would be pretty sweet but the top 16 has to at least be the goal.

I don't think we'll move up much higher than #5............................possibly by Monday (after the Vandy vs SC game). We could break into the top four with another win over Texas next month, but ultimately the rankings don't really matter anyway. All Kim cares about is getting a high seed for the NCAA tournament.

LSU has a SHOT at getting a #1 seed. To do that, we need to NOT lose more than one more SEC game through the SEC Ty.
we play Bama, @ Texas, @OMiss, Tennessee, then maybe Carolina and Texas or Vandy in the SEC Ty. Win all those and the rest as well and we'll be a #1 seed.

I'm not too worried about South Carolina. UConn is the team we need to prepare for.

Why would LSU fans care about wins at Baylor ?
Posted on 1/25/26 at 10:32 am to Johnnyshader53
Not worried too much about it. If we finish out 12-4 or 13-3 in SEC we will be a 2 seed. We probably would need to win out to be a 1. We can beat anyone if we’re on our game though not a huge difference either way.
