Who_Dat_Tiger brought up a point which is technically correct but makes 0 sense. He challenged that LSU at 81 points in the 247 transfer portal rankings is NOT the best transfer portal haul of all time. Now, the rest of the story.

LSU has 81 points based upon 2 5*, 11 4*, and 23 3* as of right now.
USC had 96 points as he said based upon 2 5*, 5 4*, and 12 3* back in 2022

Ssssssoooo, either 247 hired a math flunkout or they changed their point system. That is mathematically impossible that USC could really have a better class than LSU. And before anyone says, "who gives a shite", just remember this absurd number of points for USC based upon nothing when everyone worships the recruiting services.

It doesn’t matter where it counts, Gameday.

Caleb Williams had a perfect grade in 2022. That’s the only year the portal had “perfect” players.

Recruiting superlatives, specifically those regarding the transfer portal, are worthless.

I noticed that too...but that doesn't come remotely close to explaining the obvious mathematical absurdity. The ONLY possible plausible reason for the inconsistency is they modified their point system. Otherwise, indeed they have a math flunkout doing their statistics.

They use a weighted system. Look at the average for USC that year. Nearly 2 points higher than ours right now. That adds up.

Your top recruit gets 100% of his value added, Then every recruit after that gets a discounted value. This is done to not reward teams signing large classes. But in doing so, it punishes these teams with larger classes. So Caleb Williams had 100% of his perfect score added. But USC’s low end guys who were in the 70’s don’t hurt them more than LSU’s low end guys in the 80s since their values on the low end are discounted.

Actually, that is an excellent explanation of a flawed system that makes 0 sense. Once again, 2 5* and 11 4* for LSU...2 5* and 5 4* for USC just restricting the number of players that should count (sort of tipping the cap towards your "not rewarding teams signing large classes"). That is "a bizarre grading on the curve" that any academic person would laugh at. Bottom line: I will now go with my other explanation. A MATH DROPOUT runs the stats.

I don't want the recruiting title, I want a NC, and this class is a step in the right direction.

Let Ole Miss print the recruiting champion shirts or the 2026 National Semi-finals participant shirts. We will stick to raising NC & Heisman Trophies.

Yeah it’s a flawed model, for example…

Latrell McCutchin Sr. to USC in 2022 was a 0.900 grade. With the formula 247 uses, his value to the class ranking was 0.765.

Compare to Stephiylan Green to LSU in 2026, his grade as a player is higher at 0.910. BUT due to the discounting for the larger class size, his value to the class ranking is only 0.592.

That is UNBELIEVABLY WORSE than I imagined. BTW, I wouldn't have a huge problem with only counting X number of players in the class which is what I thought they did. That would offset the large class vs small class issue. HOWEVER, once again, counting only the same number of players for each class, LSU is way ahead of USC by the stats I have given twice already.

One more ? since you seem to be the 247 guru. I could figure it out but am too lazy. Do the "average team ratings" in the transfer portal reflect only the "T" rating guys or does it also incorporate the "HS" rated guys when computing that average?

So then, if we got rid of six 4* and eleven 3*, our recruiting class number would go UP from an 81 to a 96? That’s some fascinating accounting techniques!

I agree they probably changed their point system.

Funny you called me out when I just posted the stats from 247s site

eta since you’re digging into my post history I’ve said multiple times this is the best haul of all time

Compare LSU’s class to Texas and OSU combined. LSU has more signed in each star category. Those two teams total like 112 and LSU is at 82. It doesn’t make sense

Actually, I wasn't calling you out at all. I said you were technically correct. That part about "making 0 sense" was NOT directed towards you but I can see why you thought that. The 0 sense part was directed at 247Sports methodology, which BTW I still insist is utterly ridiculous. The more it is explained by people who apparently know the method, the more nonsense it appears. to you. 247Sports!

Who gives a flying frick. Make it happen on the field- win games, shut your mouth, and put up W’s. Bragging about points and recruits is for losers and posers.
