I haven’t done a deep dive yet, how much are they losing from this year’s team? Does everyone think they’ll contend again next year?

They're losing a top 10 pick at offensive tackle and a top 10 pick at defensive end. Both of those guys could realistically end up going top 5. I think they can still be a good team next season, but they did lost two regular season games before getting hot in the CFP through suffocating defense and physical offensive line play. Hard to project them being as good next year.

They had an average age of 22.5 so I’d guess they’ll have to reload in the portal and rely on younger guys stepping up.

They're losing a good chunk of their O-line and D-Line. Overall they're losing about 14 contributors. Quick breakdown below. They have work to do on their roster and need a solid QB through the portal.

QB1: Carson Beck (Transferred from Georgia, 2025 was his final year of eligibility)
C: James Brockermeyer (Transferred from Alabama/TCU, out of eligibility)
OL: Markel Bell (Senior, out of eligibility)
RG: Anez Cooper (Senior, out of eligibility)
WR: CJ Daniels (Transferred from Liberty, out of eligibility)
WR: Keelan Marion (Transferred from BYU/UConn, out of eligibility)
TE: Alex Bauman (Transferred from Tulane, out of eligibility)
K: Bert Auburn (Transferred from Texas, out of eligibility)

Defense
DE: Akheem Mesidor (Senior/Draft eligible, leaving)
DT: David Blay Jr. (Transferred from LA Tech, out of eligibility)
LB: Mohamed Toure (Transferred from Rutgers, out of eligibility)
DB (Nickel): Keionte Scott (Transferred from Auburn, out of eligibility)
S: Jakobe Thomas (Transferred from Middle Tennessee, out of eligibility)
DE: Rueben Bain Jr. (Expected to forgo remaining eligibility for the NFL Draft)
DT: Ahmad Moten Sr. (Expected to leave for the NFL)
P: Dylan Joyce (Out of eligibility)

They will contend, sure, but doubtful they make a deep run in the playoff again.

They will contend every year until fsu gets their act together. Miami is the only p4 program in the talent rich state of Florida that takes football seriously and will be loaded every year

Cristobal recruits the trenches well every year as well

Kentucky would be a playoff team in the Big Ten—amirite or amirite?

Pretty much all conferences these days are 1-3 teams at the top and a bunch of struggling teams below. The ACC outside of Miami didn't even have a couple other teams that were particularly good. We have moved to an era where it's more about individual teams than it is conferences.

The difference used to be that the SEC had a strong mid-field group that would make every week a battle, even for the big programs. With the portal and NIL that's gone. The good players from those mid-field teams now move up to bigger programs and paydays as soon as they show they have the capability. That's depleted the SEC's competitive advantage over other conferences, the talent bleed out is greater than most of the other conferences. Gone are the days when Mississippi State can hold on to guys and have a season where they can get to a #1 ranking.

The truth is that no conference is deep anymore, but the Big10 has a more well-funded programs than most every other conference and will thrive as long money is the main driver for success.

not this year, no

However it does seem like they are investing a lot since they hired stein. They are hitting the portal pretty hard and if stein can work out as a HC they could be a playoff team in any conference, maybe in his 2nd or 3rd year

most Gator fans agree. The only ones who don’t are fake alters like forevergrooomer and Jon Somer’s . Somer’s is a closet vol fan with a Gator alter and forevergroomer is just a miserable troll

Lol. The Big ten had 8 teams that won 9 games or more and they went a combined 10-5 in the post season. I wouldn’t say that’s 1-3 up top with everyone else struggling.
