watched it several times and i think it's good also the russian spy that gives him a gift for his engagement was a great potential reoccurring character.

ben affleck was the perfect age to reboot that franchise and could still be credibly making those movies today. it did 31mm on its open making it number 1 beating star wars attack of the clones did 20mm week two, 200mm world wide against a 68mm dollar budget.

Decent flick, wish they hadn't changed the bad guys, the book was better.

And Ken Jenkins aka Dr. Bob Kelso too!

"Tell her where you're going. In fact, tell her who you work for. She'll be impressed."

I've always liked it too. Think it could be fairly categorized as a "dad movie."

We're lining up to see the IRL version. Nessun Dorma keeps getting played at official events.

Networks scrambling to book Clancy in the wake of 9/11 just to ask him if he felt any sense of responsibility due to the climax of Debt of Honor was peak retardation of the era.

Arab and Native American terrorists.

Fun fact: the producers of the film changed the antagonists because they thought the Arab terrorism angle was played out. After production had wrapped on the film, 19 Arab terrorists carried out the 9/11 attacks.

The book is far superior to the film.

I remember when Affleck got owned on Maher's show about Islamaphobia and tried to pull his "middle eastern studies" card. He went to college for a year and a half.

It was obvious even before 9/11 that we were bending over backwards to not look racist to the people we probably should have been most protective against.

The movie is shite. Not THE shite. Just shite. I actually groaned in the theater when it was apparent that they’d replaced Arabs with white Neo-Nazis. Hollywood never misses a political lecture opportunity.

Fan fricking tastic book.

Executive Orders was great also.

Best was Red Storm Rising (and if you've ever read Larry Bond, you'll realize how much he contributed to that book)
