Right handed golfer and it's my outer left elbow/forearm area.

Seeing if anyone here has dealt with it and any advice? Been dealing with it for about 6 weeks or so. Got worse the last couple of times I played(haven't played in a month). Saw my primary care doctor a couple days before Christmas and he prescribed me a 5 day pack of prednisone. Still hasn't gotten well enough for me to try and play again.

Been doing some stretching and wrist exercises(not jerking off) daily. Debating on going to see my ortho doc. About the only thing he may do different is a steroid injection into the inflamed area.

I'd go ahead and get the injection, then take a few weeks off from any activity that could inflame it. After that, go to PT a few times to get some good exercises to do and keep up with them. You're not going to be able to resolve it while it's all inflamed. Steroid will speed that up considerably.

I'm a lefty tennis player and righty golfer. Got a cortisone shot and some rest helped. I do a lot of stretching during the week and take tylenol.
Not 100% but manageable. I overdid it playing tennis in the summer w/ league play and state. Old dude - 51 years old

hope you get some relief

I’ve dealt with tennis elbow on and off for the last couple of years. It’s chronic over use, not an acute injury. Steroids won’t fix it. Dry needling helps tremendously and combined with the theraband flexbar I finally got rid of it. It had gotten so bad I couldn’t pick up my coffee cup out of the cup holder in my truck and considering surgery. About two weeks of needling and the flexbar exercise and it was like I never had it.

Thanks for the early responses. 55 years old and little injuries are starting to pop up. In relatively good shape(5'11 175#)...lift moderate weights M-F. Actually have the theraband flexbar coming in today. Will try that and proper rest for a couple more weeks, then may be time to visit my ortho doctor.

Have heard good things about the dry needling, may look into that as well

Try to avoid cortisone if you can. It will provide temporary relief, but will actually slow the healing process.

PRP is a consideration if you don’t mind paying out of pocket.

Flexbar is very good. Day needling also very good. Time will be your friend.

I think I have found your problem.

I've had this issue on and off over the years, as well as 'golfer's elbow' on my trail arm. The only thing that has ever worked for me is extended periods of not playing. It's basically chronic for me at this point and I just live with it.

Everyone has some good ideas on this, I have also dealt with both tennis and golfers elbow. Here is what I've done:

• Did the steroid shot. It worked for about 3 months and then it came back. Did not want to continue with the steroid shot as over time it will cause more issues with your joints. One and done.

• PT / Dry Needling - Did both of these and saw no relief at all. I will be upfront and say that I did not stop playing golf during this time, my PT knew this as I was upfront about it. Was a waste of time.

• Theraband Flex Bar - I have tried this previously but have not been consistent about it. I will say that everyone i've seen talk about it has seen relief, but they probably were consistent with it. I may need to make this part of my morning routine.

• PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) - I pushed this off as long as I could because I have heard that it's very painful. I went ahead and bit the bullet on it and saw 100% relief for 1-year. During this year I played 100 rounds of golf and had no issues. After the year, I could start to feel it again so I went ahead and did another injection. The 2nd injection worked but I felt like it wore off sooner than the first injection. It's been about a year since the 2nd injection.

• Wolverine Stack (BPC-157/TB-500) peptide - I am currently on this stack and have been for about 6 weeks. I am starting to finally see some relief and am giving myself until the end of January before I make a decision on whether to do a 2nd round or not. I have missed some days in the 6 weeks because of holidays and travel, but have been pretty consistent since the beginning of the year.

Hope this gives you another idea on what you should do next. The one thing that I have not done is taken a break from playing golf. I am still playing weekly, which is probably why it's taking so long for something to work.

Experienced this a couple of years ago. Used Aspercreme and rest for a couple of weeks and haven’t had the issue since.

I’ve had much experience with tennis elbow, unfortunately. Both elbows at different times, golf and tennis related. Have used steroid injections, stretching, resting, PRP, and finally surgery (obviously last resort). The best non surgical treatment I found (recommended to me by a tennis pro with much experience with this) is the Fiix Elbow device. Check out the website. Cost $300, I think. Very good customer service.

With proper stretching and wrist exercises, jerking off twice a day may help.

Seriously,
Go buy a brace.
See if it helps.
Ice before and after play.
Avoid hitting off mats.
Advil.

I had it bad. I saw an ortho and he suggested a stretch and it helped tremendously. Raise your arms out in front of you. Rotate your thumbs down as far as you can go- hold for 5-10 second. Rotate back the opposite direction. Do it for a couple of minutes a few times a day.
It comes back from time to time, but the stretches work.

My primary physician gave it to me. If yours doesn’t then you should be able to go to an ortho and they can.

Had it bad in both elbows all of last year. Saw an ortho who confirmed they don’t do the shot for tennis elbow anymore because they’ve found it does not help the issue and only prolongs healing. They gave me a series of exercises to do, wrist braces to sleep in, and meloxicam for bad flare ups. All of which helped, but the theraband made the most progress along with some golf mechanics adjustments. Still have some flare ups in my right elbow if I play more than usual, but it’s manageable now.

What sort of routine has worked for you that have used it? I tried the Armaid and feel like it made things worse.

get a forearm band like this one.
LINK

there are stretches a PT can show you, or you can youtube.
you might also need to go to a chiropractor to have them work on it.
