The real reason for Indiana’s success: old school still works.

With almost “zero “ 4 & 5 stars on the roster, Indiana plays phenomenal Team ball. They are physical, confident, & consistent in all phases of the game. Offensively you will see receivers & lineman blocking down fld. Ecetera. Defensively, you will see DB’s redirecting receivers in zone coverage and flawless technique in man. Why? 4 & 5 yr platers that have been developed within a solid system & culture. Just like all teams did back when freshman weren’t eligible. Down votes aplenty but this isn’t a miracle or a new concept

Real soft schedule helps as well.

They destroyed two pretty good football teams in their last two games, along with Ohio State, who is good every year.
Give them their due, they have a very good football team this year.

No doubt. but they dominated 3 top tier teams ,… in a row . The concept works . However, most aren patient enough to see it through. Cig had an advantage by developing most of his starters while at his prior school

Who have they played that you have watched had similar trenches? Miami is gonna be down in the backend and at LB. That is why I can’t tell how good they really are. Even tOSU was not that great on offense. This is why they won’t be close to 2019 LSU. That LSU secondary would have owned their receivers and Queen and company would have spied Mendoza. Pressure eventually gets home with this ends.

Physicality with a talented dynamic QB and a playcaller not scared to be aggressive, throw the ball downfield without losing physicality is not a new formula but it's worked for decades.

….and a damn good QB. They’re destroying teams (that they would probably just win against) because their QB plays at an exceptional level.

If we took James Madison people out of portal, the rant would be hollering we suck and the coach is an idiot. We do what we do.

They beat Wisconsin, Penn st, Oregon twice, Ohio st and bama this year
Doesn’t get much tougher than that

While your overall point is accurate, I believe this is false. The majority of their roster is from the portal.

Wisconsin and Penn st were Mississippi state !

Penn St. fired their coach.

One side effect of NIL/TP creating more parity across the board is it also opens doors for teams like UI to go on a run and have a Cinderella season. When the depth across the ball is no longer there— like in the old Saban days—coaching, buy in, camaraderie, character, and an exceptional QB go a long way.

In the NIL era, the obscene accumulation of talent just with the top teams no longer exist.
The decline of Bama, OSU, and Georgia could be attributed to the same reason. This distribution makes it possible for a lot of other teams to catch the lightning in the bottle. You JUST had be to be slightly better with some luck.
It's IU this year and probably somone completely different next year.
That said, there's no way IU is better that 2019 LSU. That was a very very special team! Some of the teams that we beat that year could beat IU this year.

Bye due to soft schedule. Played an SEC team who had to beat another SEC team in order to play a rested and soft Indiana.
Please take a look at Indiana's regular season schedule. IT IS LAUGHABLE!!LE!!
