I've been actively trying to avoid spoilers and fan theories on this one. Can't wait.

We can all come together to love this franchise of Godzilla Minus

Might have to take a trip to a real IMAX theater again for this one…

My only thought is that they give every bit of effort & respect to the 2nd movie as they did Minus One. There's nothing to suggest they won't. Same director, same world (I'm guessing?) and hopefully more of a budget. But honestly, it's like the Indiana of movies, no 5 stars on their team, but they still just go out there and perform, better than all the rest.

No idea how they top the story though. The failed kamikazi plot line was fantastic. Carried incredible messages. And the ingenuity of the people of Japan to take down insurmountable odds and defeat Godzilla. Plus the unique scientific method of defeating him was really well done

I’m concerned they could bring in another monster and go the “Good guy Godzilla” route and ruin this

They've already worked on the theory that he's territorial, so 'another' beast would only naturally be seen as a rival force.

Would whatever creature be seen as a savior, worse than Godzilla, or both just indifferent to humanity?

Many OG fans want to see Anguirus, but I'm not feeling it. What worked in the 60's doesn't necessarily work today. They made Anguirus a apex predator, when his body form is clearly that of a herbivore. Still bad arse, but wouldn't be out on the hunt to take out another animal unless it was provoked.

A Biollante or Hedorah, imo, would be for more fitting in the current timeline, if they FF'd to the 60's or 70's. And of course, everyone loves Mothra, so there's that possibility.

We need Biollante; it’s been way too long.

I can see a version where Noriko can mutate and become a Biollante like lifeform. But my problem with that is that if SHE's mutated, then there should be 100's if not 1000's of others who were equally infected. So I hope they don't go that route.

Hopefully they'll team him up with King Kong. That would make a fantastic movie. Maybe with a baby Kong in it as well.

This is how Godzilla is always pitched, but he starts as a force against Japan but becomes the protector of Japan or the US since Japan/US is his domain (Japan or US depends on which country that Godzilla franchise is from)

Not sure you're picking up what I'm putting down. TOHO made an Oscar winning Godzilla movie with a budget of around 12 million dollars. Give or take a few. Even if they spent 50 million for the next movie, it's still far less than anything Legendary (or any other studio) will put out for this level of movie. And Marvel movies are likely to run 10x that!

So, same studio, same director, same talent and commitment, and let's hope more $ with the experience of knowing what did and didn't work for them will yield another great movie.

I have a math background, I can figure this out. Godzilla - 0 = Godzilla. This is a movie about Godzilla

This.

Adding another monster reduces the human element, which ultimately is what made minus one so damn good

Agree that was a really cool part of the story. ***SPOILERS*** Especially, opening up with the pilot and his fellow soldiers getting attacked on the island and the pilot freezing up. Japan trying to fight this thing w/ limited military resources forced them to be creative. Not sure what kind of plot this one will have but i hope it is somewhat similar to the first. Godzilla simply fighting other monsters is beneath this writer/director imo. Maybe they include the Soviets and American military. Minus One ends three years before the Korean War starts with a big American presence in Japan.

It could be done well i think. Maybe an angle of being caught in the maelstrom of two great powers (USA and USSR) and trying to survive when you dont control your own destiny.

A Biolante plot line could be analogous to the fallout of how the Japanese treated the Chinese in WW2.

There are lots of good stories to tell.
