... Accuracy.

I heard Ron Jaworski say this a long time ago and it stuck with me.

What struck me on Sorsby's tape was he was not very accurate. No dropping it into the basket, lacked touch on medium to long range throws. Underthrew often. And those were his highlights. He's big and can run, though.

I say that because a guy like Landen Clark showed accuracy and ability to make lots of throws. If you get past the "but muh Elon" part and look at his accuracy (not to mention running ability), he's got potential.

Another thing to note is the big rangy WRs Lane likes. Several times last night, the Ole Miss WRs made a hard catch look easy and made Chambliss look better.

So, it's the whole package Lane is looking for. Athletic QB who can run, throw on the move with accuracy, and big rangy WRs at targets.

Don't get hung up on the 5 star names. Look for what fits Lane's plans.

Accuracy and anticipation are so important. When a QB is young or rattled and waiting for guys to get open instead of putting it where it needs to be before the WR gets there is frustrating to watch.

100%

Peyton Manning won a Super Bowl with a noodle for an arm because he was accurate.

I’d say under appreciated instead.

My goat Drew Brees is the most accurate qb of all time and I promise you it was a blessing to watch

His completion percentage was 56% in 2025. That doesnt tell the whole story but it tells a pretty big part of it.

How would he be considered an accurate QB?

Accuracy, but at least adequate velocity. You can hit the spot all day, but if you can't beat the DB to the spot, you are in trouble. You don't have to have a cannon, though.

Starts? Nothing worse then being hurt and unable to play!

People are overlooking the facts so they can feel good about missing out on all of the top QB targets. Also, the receivers we have been signing aren’t big tall guys at all. I’m not trying to be a downer, I’m just stating facts.

Drew Brees was an expert in pocket awareness, he new when pressure was coming, he knew when to step up in the pocket, he knew when to run for 10 yards, he knew when to throw it away

The biggest difference between year 1 and year 2 for both Daniels and Burrow at LSU, was there pocket awareness and presence. That is the key to having total command of the offense regardless of your physical attributes. The best qb's in history were absolute technicians in the mental game. Unfortunately, I think it is also one of the hardest things to learn

Wait, you think Clark is accurate but Sorsby isn’t?

I would agree, that’s one of the things I’ve enjoyed watching with Tyler Shough he seems to have good pocket awareness and presence for his time in the league

I use to think it was something you either had or you didn’t. I think it’s what most people refer to when they say he has the “it” factor

But watching the burrow and Daniels absolutely transform in this department in one season, leads me to believe that maybe it’s not as simple as I thought

Scouts are atrocious at evaluating QB talent coming out of high school. The amount of 5 star busts is astounding.

Climbs the pocket under pressure.

Maybe it’s not underrated, but all the greats do it. All of them.

having the vision, the knowledge of pass routes for each receiver, and the guts to throw a receiver open. That requires the thrower and the receiver to be absolutely on the same page (pass route). This is the one thing that LSU didn't have this past year as the receivers simply couldn't get open and our QB's couldn't find them....and of course, the OL didn't give our QB's time to make an adjustment. Once JB learned this after 2018 and JD learned it after his very poor 1st year, both became Heisman winners.
