Why couldn't Trump just keep his word and be a president of peace?

We invaded a fricking South American country because they nationalized their oil industry in 1976 and we lost out. Trump is worse than Bush, at least there were terrorists in the middle east.

Why don’t you ask the people of Venezuela if Trump is a president of peace?

So NOW you want Kings and Dictators in charge? Difficult to keep up with the hypocrisy.

He's not worse than Bush. Bush is one of the biggest pieces of shite ever to get elected. But it takes vast amounts of money to run a presidential campaign. That money wants big defense contracts, oil and resources and we're their thug. Trump talked a lot of shite, most of which he has yet to back up. His de-escalation rhetoric, however, might go down as the largest crock of shite he dumped... and he's still rattling sabres.

The administration of former President Joe Biden reportedly reached a secret deal allowing oil giant Chevron to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to Venezuela's authoritarian government.

Concretely, Bloomberg reported on Friday that a supplement to a sanctions waiver from November 2022 allowed the company to remain in compliance with U.S. law while paying oil royalties and taxes in the South American country.

The initial waiver from the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) had given the company permission to conduct limited operations in the country.

However, in late 2022 the Biden administration lifted sanctions on the country amid negotiations with the opposition and as an incentive to pave the way toward freer and fairer elections.

There is rumbling that Putin suggested to Trump a swap of Venezuela for Ukraine. If true, that would be a Devil’s bargain that will have long term negative consequences for the US.
