I just can’t see McMahon making it through the entire season. This was a winnable game, maybe the only legit shot at a win on the road and still couldn’t get it done. Yes missing your starting PG hurt, but nobody can seriously have confidence that this team can get to .500 in conference this season even at full compliment. Verge will have to show the fan base he’s serious about basketball mid-season by reliving Matt of his duties if we are heading towards another sub par season. My biggest fear though, if that happens, is that Collis Temple will be in Verge’s ear and have major influence on the next hire like he did with Johnny. The next coach needs to be a splash, not one of Collis’ buddies.

Cut ur losses dude has ALWAYS been in over his head. It’s unfortunate but it’s reality.

Probably right.
But who can do better?

He’s def got his work cut out for him . They really needed to start quick. If what I hear is correct and it’s at least 3 games for Thomas that’s not good. Need to get 7-8 wins in conference to save his job. They know that. I wish him luck, he's not had much so far.

There are most definitely coaches out there that can do better. It’s not our job to identify them, but rest assured, they are out there.

I remember prior to Will Wade being hired the vast majority of posters on here said it was impossible to recruit high end talent to LSU in basketball. No one really knew who Wade was at the time, but after he was hired, he proved everyone who said you couldn’t recruit high end talent to lsu wrong.

Oh look, another fire McMahon post.

No one has ever suggested that he's not going to make it. What a revelation.

If the fire McMahon posts were a drinking game, every one would be shite faced all day, every freaking day until he's fired.

It's a broken record, a daily catharsis!! Just let it play out. There is no advantage to firing him mid season. Whatever plans are being made with having a short list, to the timing are all in the hands of the Administration, Verge and whoever is footing the bill.

Everyone will get their taste of blood when the event occurs.

Depending on DJ Thomas coming back, I see a scenario where we are playing A&M in the last regular season game to get our 9th win

Nah, man, that won't cut it, but it's not unprecedented -- we fired John Brady in 2008 after a horrendous 1-8 start in SEC play. And only two years after a final four appearance.

It pains me to see teams like Missouri and Vandy become the cream of the crop in the SEC only two years after being unable to win conference games at all. Even South Carolina, LSU's lightly regarded next opponent, made the tourney under Lamont Paris

If he loses to South Carolina this week it could get ugly fast. At that rate I doubt he makes it the full season

If we get to 0-5 in the SEC I say just cut him loose and move on

McMahon should have been fired after last season IMO. But I don’t really know that there is any value in firing him after 1 SEC loss.

Will Wade didn’t sniff a Final Four at LSU and will not at NC ST. He has a 5-7 tourney record.
Find a coach who has a winning tourney record — and that gets along with other coaches. The coaching community hates his arse.

Had they brought Wade in for SEC play, a lot of good could come.
