The reason that I'm an isolationist is because of the disasters that I've read about as a kid (Bay of Pigs, Vietnam) and seen firsthand as an adult (Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama, Biden).

If you asked me ahead of time "should we strike Iran's nuclear fscilities" or "should we physically remove Nicholas Maduro from power in a daring 3AM military raid" I'd have said "HELL NO" to both.

But you cannot argue with these results right now. Every honest person who wants the best for America should be very proud of this operation and how flawlessly it was carried out. We should be excited for the positive things that will come from this bold action.

Trump is reshaping my understanding of what is possible through military intervention. He's earned high praise and he deserves the benefit of the doubt moving forward.

It’s obviously perfectly ok to be against both.

But the opponents of it are debating in straight up bad faith. Which, they do nearly 100% of the time.

Until they are able to be fair, I truly do not care what we do that pisses them off. They are incapable of fair conversation.

You can absolutely argue with the results, because you (nor anyone) knows them yet.

We can be hopeful it will in fact “be different this time” but the track record is atrocious, and none of them were over in 24 hours.

Its incredible to see what is possible with competency at the top. No leaks, no absurd "nation building", just removing the problem and getting on with it

I’m proud of the competency and capability of our military. They’re second to none. I’m not a fan of us running the country until… well that’s to be determined. Sorry guys, I have vivid memories of the early to mid 2000s.

The honest truth of the matter is that no one knows how this is going to play out. I know the following example isn’t an apples to apples comparison but vacuums will be filled: Very few saw Iraq imploding the way that it once Hussein was eliminated. The optimism of the day won out. History shows us something different.

So, yes, I’m glad that Maduro is in custody and I hope that Venezuela becomes prosperous and free. But I won’t celebrate yet. It’s too early. The militias will need to be dealt with as will the remaining political allies of Maduro. Give me that and I’ll feel better about their chances. Doing those things will require our military. God knows no one else is capable or willing.

That’s like scoring a TD on the opening drive and claiming you won the game.

It’s nonsense, esp when you know the nature of these things. Nobody will call what happened this morning an A+ if history end up repeating itself.

Just one on that fig's list - Chile. Chile was much better off long-term with Allende deposed than it would have been under Marxist rule.

I think its more like scoring a TD on the first drive & celebrating the fact your O did what it was supposed to do & scored, with near flawless execution.

The op was A+

This is absolutely true.

I'm glad we went in and got him. This wasn't a war...it was an arrest. And it should have happened long ago.

But Trump has now said that we're going to be running the country for a while. So right from the start, this isn't a quick operation. Let's see how that works out...us running Venezuela.

Then we have the element of foreign aid. Most of the die hard Trump supporters oppose any and all foreign aid. But history tells us that now we will start pumping billions into Venezuela. Gotta help all those poor Venezuelans get back on their feet, right?

raqis beat a picture of Saddam Hussein with their shoes while others celebrate the capture of the former dictator in downtown Baghdad Sunday. BAGHDAD, Iraq - Celebratory gunfire rang out across the Iraqi capital, radios played festive music, drivers honked their horns and passengers on buses and trucks chanted "They got Saddam, they got Saddam," as word of the former dictator's capture spread from car to car and shop to shop on a sun-filled Sunday afternoon. U.S. troops stationed around the country cheered when they heard the news and held back as Iraqis fired their guns in the air. Iraqi journalists gave U.S. officials a standing ovation and cheered wildly when video of a captured Saddam was shown during a news conference announcing the arrest.

But my venuzulan friend here in the US is SOOOOO HAPPY!

(This is Iraqis in Dearborn after saadam)

At this point? Sure it is.

But it's Iike being up 7-0 after the first possession of the game. We're gonna win...but are we going to win 38-0 or 41-38? Are we going to lose the lead at some point and then come back to win? No one knows how we're going to get to the end of this story.

That having been said, yeah, it needed to happen and should have a long time ago.

Okay if THATS what we’re talking about (and nothing else) than sure I’m on board, A+. Well done boys!

But I thought we were also talking about what happens next and where this leads. Historically it’s only made things worse, again, here’s hoping this time is different.
