I imagine they let the exiled mamácita who was actually elected take charge.
She’ll be friendly to democracy most likely

Yeah... I'm not thrilled with that and hope it's merely assisting the duly elected person in taking office and forming their government.

Can we bookmark this post and you come back and apologize for your comment later?
US is there to maintain stability while the actually democratically elected President Urrutia gets established. The cartel will be head hunting trying to seize power as well as the remnants of the Maduro regime. The people elected Urrutia but Maduro, being a dictator, refused to step down and jailed and killed political opponents.
This isn’t a backwater ME country that has no knowledge of western society. This is a Western country who elected a president and had 2 brutal dictators remove their freedoms.

That's the way I took his statement. We will run it until a transition can be made. We will need to help hunt down the bigger Maduro officials and the opposition move into power. I don't see this as Afghanistan or Iraqesque nation building.
Plus, now we can just deport Venezuelans back to their home nation.

I wonder how much it will cost us.

Less than a Somali daycare operation.

Lol. Dude the regime still has to be weeded out from within. The people would under the thumb again in a week if we just walked away.
This is step 1
2 will be stabilize
3. Elections
4 let the oil companies start moving products and pumping monies back into the place.
The people need to feel being free again. It is gonna be a shock to the system for a while.

Read your post again and then say you aren’t excited to be nation building again
It’s “ok” if you are. But at least own it
It’s not on us to facilitate the people of Venezuela’s revolution against a dictator
