Only the goat Cignetti outplays the bye.
Let’s do away with it.
Also, Lanning in his postgame presser said today’s game should’ve been played in Lubbock 2 weeks after the championship weekend.

Agreed
But hard to beat a team twice

That’s surprising to me that it ends up making gme m underperform.

Well, I may have jinxed them

What do the numbers show in the NFL over the years?
Posted on 1/1/26 at 10:16 pm to SloaneRanger
They get two weeks and not a month

The bye isn’t the issue, but it’ll be used as an excuse for expansion. The calendar is the issue.
If round 1 was the week after conference titles and round 2 was the week after round 1, the bye would be an advantage.

No really the same. The NFL the teams usually just have one week off.
College they have. 20+ days off and the team you are playing just played the week before.

That’s 6 or one, half a dozen of another

I think you'd see a lot of rust in the NFL if teams took a month between the end of the regular season and the playoffs.

2 did, but Georgia/Ole Miss looks a lot like the game they played earlier this season. Did you expect a blowout?

No. Georgia was a 6 point favorite and they didn’t cover

Having a month off is insane. It’s way too long and the results show that

They really need to move the quarterfinals on campus and move them up. Lanning 100% correct.

The bye isn’t the issue. Seeding is. The committee has no idea what they are doing.

A one week bye is fine but more than that just invites problems obviously.

OSU Miami was competitive too. OSU looked terrible in the first half but had the ball down 17-14 with 7 minutes left.
The bye is not the issue.
