Walker wins this and its closer than most think.

Walker was a natural hitter, didn't have any weakness at the plate.

Furniss gets close based on his power advantage.

I will never forget him going off for 3 homers his freshman year at Arkansas.

Walker no Doubt. His Pro Career answers that question.

Furniss easily

dude had so much more power, you can claim that it was the bats but he still has the records

The question wasn't "who is the best power hitter?", and you can't always look at career records in baseball because the best players are rarely around long enough to hold them.

Furniss was obviously a better power hitter, but Walker was one of the best pure hitters the college game has ever seen. He had at least 100 hits in each of his 3 years and his career avg is .396. Furniss' career avg is .371. And to compare the power eras just a little,Walker even slugged over .700 for his career but the highest the team slugged during that time was .511. I can't find Furniss' slug pct, but the team was .492 his freshman year then .558, .607, and .570 his soph-senior years.

Furniss holds a lot of records, and was awesome, but he played a few seasons in the live bat era and was at LSU for 4 years

But if you remember correctly furniss used an old gold easton when everyone else was using the brand new reflexes etc. So you can't contribute all of his power numbers to the bat

dean is not even in the conversation.

Walker easily the best.

I even take Brandon Larson's homer year over Furniss

Walker is one of the best pure college hitters of all time, period. The other two aren't close to that level. Sweetest swing, along with Will Clark, I ever saw.

joey bell and Lyle Mouton belong in the picture too, but I would take Walker 100/100 times...didnt he hit a game clinchin homer in extra innings to beat that really good Long Beach State team? CLUTCH!

Both are REALLY good hitters - the two best in LSU history. Belle not far behind.

They're in the same category with Robin Ventura, Mark Kotsay, Phil Nevin, Pat Burrell, Brooks Kieschnick, Pete Incaviglia, Barry Bonds, and Dave Magadan.

Hit a GW single in the elim game vs. LBSU. Days prior, he hit a grand slam in a comeback win over #1 Texas A&M.
