China upping the rhetoric vs Taiwan

I’ve been hearing that our Pentagon believes that there will be a need to address China’s threats to Taiwan within the next 5 years. our naval expansion plans titled Trumps Golden Fleet are designed to meet the possible need to show our naval capabilities and address the need to intervene if needed.
Recently, China has engaged in a provocative military display. Some have called it the most provocative action ever. They’re calling it “Justice Mission 2025”
They’re launching rockets off the Taiwan coast and showcased a new generation of assault ships.
The drills started 11 days after we announced an arms package to Taiwan totaling more than $10billion which China has said it will “take forceful measures in response”.
Also, For the first time, China has declared that the drills were aimed at deterring outside forces from assisting Taiwan. They’re claiming the ability to take out any ships, aircraft or submarines that try to intervene.
Trump has downplayed the measures stating that this relationship with Xi is strong and China has been doing this stuff for 20 years. While that may be true, there are strong concerns post Trump.
Despite Trumps dismissive view, A pentagon report issued last week stated that our military intelligence leads it to believe that China was planning to win a fight for Taiwan by 2027 which would be a significant historical marker.
Just fyi…

I just don't see china doing anything. The US accounts for 10% of China's over foreign trade. It would wreck their economy.

At the end of the day, I think China’s military is a paper tiger.
They can try and intimidate all they want. Call me arrogant, but there isn’t another major fighting force close to us.
Just the threat of our military alone deters a major power’s military force.
Since its inception, to my knowledge, the CCP has no combat experience in a major war.
We’re involved in a war every other year.

I think the CCP has assembled a fairly potent military, largely thanks to the US transference of advanced industrial technologies that would have taken China decades to develop.

China has the only 6th Gen jets and hypersonic missiles in the world. They also pump out ships much faster and more efficient than we do (unsure if they meet our standards). Their technology sector is what we wish it could be. That’s their wheelhouse.
As said their main objective is Taiwan. I wouldn't be so sure they couldn’t take it if they wanted it.

Not sure of their capabilities but their naval fleet is substantial.
I don’t fully understand the Asian politics but Is the fascination with Taiwan tied to the semi conductor company?

First of all the 5th gen/6th gen verbiage is just marketing. You aren’t going to tell me that China now makes better fighter jets than the American MIC.
Second of all, the US likely has secret technology that eliminates the need for hypersonic missiles.

Oh noooz! I’m scared.
Whatever label they want to slap on their jets is fine, but our jets and pilots would make the look stupid.

Want to see Chinese resolve , put the MEU out of Okinawa to sea, with the Japanese Amphibious Task Force, joining the WestPac cruise already in the Region, and watch the Chinese run back to port

Problem is, the US can only bring to bear a fraction of its military power into the region and bring it in time. Most US bases in the region are well within Chinese ballistic missile range and will severely damaged in the opening hours. Most war games estimate hundreds of US aircraft will be lost on runways during this time period.
China has also spent years developing carrier killing ballistic missiles and all reports indicate the pentagon is taking them seriously by planning to keep carrier strike groups much farther away from the action than they would otherwise.
China has a significant advantage seeing as their air force and navy will be operating close to shore, enjoying protection from many layers of air defense. The US will largely be operating from carriers and damaged airbases in the region, drastically cutting sortie rates versus China.

We probably have SEALS deployed all over the world so it might not mean anything whatsoever, but I know for 100% fact we have a full team of SEALS stationed in Taiwan

Its not about being a worldwide power. They have been 100% focused on Taiwan and in that region they are a threat. They are not invading USA but are preparing to take Taiwan.
They have been buying gold like crazy and divesting their US dollar exposure. This will allow them to have gold backed buying ability when they take Taiwan and West puts sanctions on them. And they don’t care how many of their people die from starvation or war, they are 100% commies. They starved over 70,000,000 of their own people in the past.
And like others stated they stole technology. Pols sold out to them. And a majority of their civilian ships are military so numbers are deceiving.
Japan is the other wild card they need all our help to be able to make an offensive military. Their constitution doesn’t allow it but they are finding ways around it. We need to support them a lot.

Just stating what we know.
We don’t have a capable 6th Gen fighter jet yet. It’s being built.
Im sure DARPA, Raytheon and Lockeed Martin are cooking something up though.

I’m not standing up for them in any such way.
But the Chinese culture are better built to withstand and weather bad situations. This is well known.
They also have backup power to extreme capabilities. We lack some of these key capabilities.

Neat.
Do you think it’s going to be a surprise attack and that we don’t have defensive measures in place? That we can’t launch and move aircraft?
I would like to know more about the real capabilities of those “hypersonic” missiles.

I am reading a good book, a little dated, but it turns out very relatable to the situation we find ourselves in today. "The Dragon and The Bear" by Tom Clancy gives a great insight into China-US relations, how they view our engagement with Taiwan and how they feel about the trade between our countries. Clancy does a great job in explaining how the Chinese feel like they are superior to all other races and that we "owe" this trade to them. They see Taiwan as an unruly child who refuses to return home and is being led astray by the West. I think that given the fact that they have squandered trillions on building up their military, and I am not saying they are competent, it is very likely that they will attempt to reunify Taiwan and mainland China in the very near future.

We didn't stand up to China over Kung Flu and we won't stand up to them for Taiwan.

If anything happens, it won't be while Trump or Vance is in power.

Which has zero bearing on China's ability to take/not take Taiwan.
Good Lord.
