The Great Wall in the early 2000s used to be so good. What are the best Chinese food spots in Baton Rouge?

Probably belongs on the F & D Board, but man I did love some Great Wall back in the day.
Probably better places in BR and IIRC the place has taken its hits here, but I do like Oriental Pearl on Sherwood and Coursey.

BR Chinese has taken a nose dive. I think the older establishments closing had s as lot to do with that.

Chengs. It is one of the few real restaurants. Owners are awesome.

True but they went down hill rapidly and in a disgusting way.

Tried Cheng's on Essen/Calais the other day. Not bad.
But I feel like there are better ones around.....

RIP China Taste.
Wasn’t all that good but the huge family meal kept me alive in college

The Great Wall was awesome. Goddamn Advocate and their misleading health inspection reports.

I believe he’s the nephew or relative of the old Hunan clan. I’d say they’re the best left in BR

Speaking of college and Chinese, I used to hit up that hole-in-the-wall restaurant on Highland by the BRPD station a ton.
Red Flower, IIRC?

I sometimes dream about those phoenix rolls. The original location prior to the Walmart move was our staple. I’m guessing we were in there at least twice a month. Also, DeAngelo’s calzones were a solid alternative opposite there. The chicken ruspante and sensation salad were my favorites.

I remember at the first location they used to be sitting at a table in the dinner room cutting the green beans. I'm sure that was a violation, didn't matter, everybody was fine.

I think maybe the older generation of owners or their kids figured out a more lucrative business model to apply. Robert Kraft knows what I’m talking about.

Back in the late 2000's/early 2010's, there was a Chinese place off of Burbank in the same shopping center as Mellow Mushroom.
Their $5 lunches kept me fed my last couple of years in school.
