ESPN article about Chambliss 6th year waiver application

from the article, "Though NCAA officials don't comment on active cases, it appears the lack of real-time documentation from that 2022 season is at the crux of the delay and the committee's initial hesitation to grant the waiver."

Not sure what real time documentation from 2022 actually is. He's got medical records from that year that have been submitted. Chambliss' attorney doesn't seem to think it's required anyway. The NCAA is dysfunctional. Hope he gets the waiver soon and hope we land him through the portal.

Just bring him here and start him. Really don’t think NCAA has the backbone to do anything about it. Pavia can go back to Vandy too. They have no power anymore really

More reason to dissolve NCAA. Everything they do turns to cancer. All they do is mess everything up for an organization that does nothing but put their hand in the cookie jar for money and otherwise is a figurehead organization.

They probably will grant him eligibility if he promises to stay at Ole Miss

If he wants to go to LSU they will deny it. I know some trickery when i see it

This is the kind of bullshite wording insurance companies use when they know they need to pay for something but are desperately trying to get out of paying.

Have they been submitted? His lawyer said

quote:

Mars' argument in the letter goes deep into the thicket of NCAA bylaws.

He stresses that the waiver bylaw Chambliss is seeking -- 12.6.1.7.1 -- requires "objective evidence" while a medical hardship waiver, which he's not applying for, requires "contemporaneous or other appropriate medical documentation."

As I understand it, a 12.6.1.7.1 waiver is the Pavia non-NCAA institution scenario, which is not the case for Chambliss, or the traditional redshirt, which he already took in 2021.

I honestly don't see how he would qualify for a 12.6.1.7.1 waiver.

My opinion is that he should not get the waiver if he is staying at Ole Miss, but should get it if he is transferring to LSU.

ETA: I see they submitted evidence of tonsillitis and adenoiditis plus an appointment with a doctor in August. I think what the NCAA wants is during the season stuff or some instruction from a doctor that he should not participate in football.

I think his lawyer's actions and statements indicate he is likely to transfer.

quote:

While "there's no definitive timeline on when a decision will be made," Mars sent a seven-page letter to Ole Miss that was forwarded to the NCAA reinstatement committee on Monday stressing the urgency to make a timely decision before the transfer portal opens Jan. 2.

Mars also said in the letter that Chambliss would "suffer irreparable harm" if not granted the waiver, per Thamel.

They’ll say something in that 2022 documentation makes him illegal and OM will have to forfeit the season.

That's what his lawyer is telling the NCAA - basically if they delay this waiver it could cost the young man a lot of $$. Whether the NCAA will give a frick is anyone's guess

Chambliss is ok but we need to swing for the fences at QB and that means getting one if Sam Leavitt or Brendan Sorsby as 1A and 1B respectively. I also would take Drew Mestemaker, Colton Joseph or Byrum Brown over Chambliss. I just have that feeling that his waiver is going to be denied anyway although I hope I’m wrong. Bottom line though, I’m trusting Lane to evaluate players, especially QB and he will take it to Verge who tells people to start opening their checkbook because Leavitt or Sorsby is likely to cost $5 million for one of them.

I agree and Lane likes smart guys at QB but they have to be mobile with all the RPO he uses. Sorsby is the best athletically and running the ball but Leavitt can run too but coming off an ACL injury I wonder if he dials it back. If ge’s healthy though Leavitt just feels like a winner.

It’s obvious what Ole Miss strategy is, delay delay delay. Force LSU to take other QBs & Chambliss is left with the only option of returning to Ole Miss
