I fully expect an avalanche of DVs here and that’s fair considering Stewart is maybe the best DLineman in the country.

I simply believe giving a kid who is already a lock for 1st or 2nd round of the draft likely 2-3MM to come here isn’t good value whatsoever.

It’s human nature to protect yourself for bigger and better things, and I do not think we get 9 SEC games of his best and fastest play while he’s looking ahead to his NFL career. That’s assuming he stays healthy during season too.

We have great DLine coaches on staff, I would much prefer to get 2 or 3 lesser known players for the same money as Stewart and have depth and possibly strike a diamond in the rough via good coaching.

All this said, Billy & Lane know what they are doing and I trust them to make the best decision here.

You have to trust your Dline coach as well. If Lucas and Lane think he has the correct mindset, you take THAT talent. You said it yourself, he's a projected 1st round potentially top 3 pick. Those guys don't grow on trees.

Same could have been said about Caleb downs, delane who was 3-4, rd prospect (not quite the dylan stewart hype), haulcy similar to delane jr mock grade.

Its all a risk, but you cant not go after elite talent bc of it.

I understand this point, but CBs and Safeties are taking less hits and get injured less, albeit still have a good chance of injury.
DLinemen are getting hammered every play and the best ones play like they have nothing to lose.

Stewart was worse this year than he was as a freshman, he has a lot left to prove

My God. “We don’t want first round talent because they might not try as hard as the lunch pale baw”

The rant always pioneers a new frontier to absurd ideas

You know who tries hard every single play? Jack pryburn. Case closed.

Outside of the QB position, an elite pass rusher is the most valuable player, you pony up to solidify either of those positions no doubt

He played through an injury. Wasn’t healthy most of the year.

There is a reason Elite Pass rushing DE are 3rd highest paid group in the NFL.

That is just stupid

Stewart is a difference maker and you take those wherever you can get them

Some of you are so worried about money. Y’all know this ain’t coming out your paycheck, right?

According to that logic, we should never recruit elite players nor take elite portal guys. That's not smart.

As of right now, I've seen him mocked as the #1 overall pick by reputable football people like WalterFootball. At worst most consider him a top 10 pick.

Of course things can change, but he seems to have enormous talent.

He seems like the exact kind of player you should put money towards.

Better than a high school recruit.

It’s a balance of stars and depth. That’s why teams now have general managers and a large staff to allocate the NIL funds.

Teams that win national championships are loaded with first round talent.
