Can we say Dylan Stewart is a given now?

Everyone in the nation will want Stewart. Not a guarantee, but Lucas certainly helps. Big money about to be forked out to that young man.

With Lane Kiffin at the helm I’m confident in getting any player that he really wants in the portal.

Nah nah nah

It was said in the deal with Kiffin that we have the most money to spend in the portal. He’s ours

Pass rushers are some of the most sought players in NFL and college ranks. You will have to break the bank for him. It's going to be a huge bidding war. I would say no, it's not a given.

It's not a given, but if LSU wants to compete for national championships every year, eventually they're going to have to play that game and win bidding wars against Texas, Ohio State, Oregon etc.

I don't ever expect givens. Seems too good to be true, but we'll see.

This is why you don’t pay $2m to Lacy until you have Stewart, your QB and oline secured. Lacy isn’t the piece you start with, he isn’t even a top 3 piece. He is a luxury item and the value should be spent on:
Essential
1) mobile QB
2) Oline (LT and C) unless we keep Moore
3) Stewart
4) Another DE

Quality Needed
4) DT
5) Safety
6) LB
6) RB (assuming we can keep Durham and Berry)
7) WR

Stewart is the type of player that you spend money on.

2 mill+ no doubt. I'd actually pay to have that talent on the opposite side of Reliford. People are not ready for the monster that Reliford is. Him and Stewart would be a top 3 tandem in CFB next year.

Perfect list and levels of importance.

Nothing is a given but it can't hurt.

The fact that moore is playing in the meaningless Texas bowl makes me think that he is coming back. If he was going to the draft then I dont see why he would risk re injuring what he is just coming back from.

Lucas helps. I'd keep an eye on Ohio St. He's from DC so geographically it might be a better fit and tOSU is cranking out big money and great defenses every year.

Look at what Baker and Peoples have done with decent talent at DE. I am not quite sure they’ve had elite talent level at that position yet. Against non-elusive QB’s, they’ve dominated. However, he has yet to come close to stopping an elite elusive QB, or even slow one down. This needs to be addressed in the worst way. Now that he has lock down corners and Spears looks to have turn a corner, we absolutely must invest in an elite DE to be opposite of Reliford and an Elite DT to anchor the middle. Once those 2 are secured, address the star position if Ross or Singleton aren’t ready. With the LB haul from last class, surely some are ready to step up with Whit and Keys. I’m really hoping Singleton, Ross and Braker are those guys. No more lazy, up and down effort by Perkins.

A highly disruptive edge guy like Stewart is someone who can most frequently kill an opponent's offensive possession, and sometimes flip the field. Would be huge, but yes QB is higher priority.

I hope you’re right, because it would really help having him back next season.

That said, some NIL deals have either a penalty for opting out or a bonus incentive for playing in a bowl game. I’m sure he was paid well, but Center is not a premium position in spite of its importance on the field. Center also isn’t a premium NFL Draft position, no matter how good the player is. He may just want or need that extra money before moving on.

Dart, Pavia (coming off an injury) and Green last season.

Klubnik, Green and Mateer this season.

It’s elite speed at the QB position that has killed us. Run of the mill mobile QBs typically don’t do shite against Baker.

DT will depend on whether McKinnley considers leaving and how fast the staff think the freshmen can come along as rotation pieces. We may not have any star sophomores, but we’ve recruited well at DT the last two years.

Safety maybe one position we don’t bolster through the portal. Spears played very well in his rotation snaps this season and posted two of the highest PFF grades in all of college football. We also have several guys who haven’t cracked the primary rotation yet, but we’re really good looking recruits. If we don’t look for a Safety in the portal, it means the staff thinks they have enough guys who are ready to back up Cooley and Spears.

LB could maybe use a guy who can step in and hold down a starting spot next to Weeks. I expected better from Keys last year, but there was a major drop-off with him on the field. However, like Safety, we’ve recruited very well overall at LB. If we don’t pursue a portal option, it will show that Baker believes in the young guys stepping in.

Someone floated the idea that Lindsey may have his legal issues resolved in the near future. If so, it would be nice to have him back as a cheap 3rd or 4th string option at RB. One less guy to pay in the portal would be a good thing.

WR- how many do we pull over from OM?
