The Kansas City Chiefs have informed administrative officials that they will announce their move to Kansas today, according to sources who asked not to be named because they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
The move is pending the expected approval of top Kansas lawmakers, who are meeting Monday in Topeka to discuss the proposal.
The Chiefs have played at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, since 1972, and it’s been home to the birth of a recent football dynasty. Their current lease expires after the 2030 season.

Arrowhead is probably five miles from the Kansas border. Other than shifting some municipal bureaucracy from ghetto arse St. Louis to the leafy suburbs around Overland Park, I don't really see why this matters.

1. Why would they pay when they can get the cities to do it?
2. It makes no sense for an owner to spend a billion on a stadium in Kansas City where it wont get much use outside of football. Owners paid for stadiums in LA and Vegas because they can make money on the stadium from other events or by developing the land around it.

I learned Kansas City was primarily in Missouri by watching the 1985 World Series when I was eight years old. It was billed as the “Show Me Series” “Battle of Missouri”, and the “I-70 showdown”
Later that year I got in an heated argument with a teacher because she claimed Kansas City was in Kansas, not Missouri, after all it was in the city’s name.
I don’t know what happened to the teacher, but I was moved out of that public school over the summer.
From my standpoint, no Kansas City professional sports franchise should ever play in Kansas.
Also, sports taught me a lot about geography. Another lesson I learned at an early age was that there were swamps in New Jersey because of the Meadowlands.
Later that year I got in an heated argument with a teacher because she claimed Kansas City was in Kansas, not Missouri, after all it was in the city’s name.
