The success Shough has had with Olave and a bunch of nobodies makes me think WR should no longer be priority in the first.

You’ve got Olave and Vele who are proven. Palmer and Polk coming off injury, Then I’d try to draft Shough’s old teammate Chris Bell in the 3rd. You’ve also have Tipton, and Shough has shown he can elevate talent.

This would free us up to target the best defensive player in the first, maybe someone like Keldric Faulk or Caleb Downs.

I also think we should heavily consider targeting tight end in the 2nd or 3rd to pair w Juwan. The Ohio State TE Klare would be ideal

I want to go OL or pass rusher in the first round…

But even I have to admit that we don’t have a true #1 WR and we need one desperately.

We shouldn’t go WR in the 1st anyway, or at least we shouldn’t prioritize that. Until this OL and DL get fixed, we can’t reliably keep up with the great teams. You have to address those in the first before anything else

Now if there’s a run leaving some elite WR or RB on the board, then you have to grab one

Regarding your position that we don’t need a WR due to Shough s play, I say the exact opposite. He threw 49 balls and averaged 6 yards per attempt. That number is way too low. It shows he’s throwing check downs way too often. Sure some of that is due to rookie play, but much to most of it is due to not having talent out there getting open for him to throw to. It’s also that he is getting pressured way too often and early

the further we fall, the more likely I think they end up going get an OL

We need at least 4 new weapons for Shough that are NFL caliber between the WR, RB, TE positions. What he has been able to do with replacement/below replacement level skill players is outstanding but you can’t expect the guy to elevate everyone like prime Brees/Brady.

I think Boston, Brazzell, Sarratt, Lane or Bernard can be had in the 2nd round. Really need to see how the combine shakes out.

Unless Love falls, which I don't see happening, I want Bailey. Book ends with C. Young would be a wonderful thing to see! I don't get why he's not being talked about more. With the steps the D has made this year, you are 1 dline difference maker away from being a shut down unit. The rest of the draft can be spent on offensive pieces.

They shouldnt go WR in the 1st because its a poor top-end WR draft. They need to draft multiple WR's though. Or a WR and a TE. Or WR / RB

We don't need a WR in the 1st, we need a "game breaker". An offensive talent that can take over a game and free up the rest of our roster. Someone that demands double coverage, or that defenses specifically scheme to cover at all times.

Could be a WR, TE, or RB - doesn't matter. But Olave, Vele, and JJ would dominate if in consistent 1 on 1 coverage because we have a home run hitter that defenses have to key on.

The saints have drafted 4 WRs in the 1st round since 2002, none have made the pro-bowl.

Wes Chandler is the only Saints 1st Rd WR drafted in 1979 to ever make the Pro-bowl.

Olave may have a chance this year, but would you pick him again given the opportunity?

I do think the 2nd Rd is where to draft them though, just not 1st.

The saints should take the best player available. If that happens to be a WR, then you do it

It may not necessarily be a WR but we definitely need an offensive weapon.

Free agency:
RB - Sign Kenneth Gainwell as the multi-purpose RB, pair him with Devin Neal and the last legs of Alvin Kamara & Kendre Miller for a year.
WR - Sign Alec Pierce, shores up the #2WR position, big bodied guy

Draft:
Find 4 starters on the DE/OLB, ILB, OG, and possible RB

We'll be set.

Building lines on both sides of the ball should always be your priority.

If he wins the next 2 games, can we start calling him Tyler Clutch
