Should we rename it “The Trump Monroe Doctrine”?

It definitely has some appeal.

Cuba has never been a "functional" democracy even before Castro.

Bautista was something of a dictator.

Why are you on Obama Care and taking subsidies from the government?

If it happens, all the more reason to change the name to the Trump Monroe Doctrine, don’t you agree?

Once this is complete we need to discuss the MAGA Carta.

Venezuela might’ve had such a brain drain that it may be unrecoverable on anyones lifetime.

The people that didn’t get out in the 10-years thay had before people started eating zoo animals are too dumb to run a functioning society.

They got unlimited oil but they can barely keep the electricity on which has been a decades long issue.

We have a better chance at turning Venezuela than Cuba. More importantly, Venezuela's entire oil infrastructure was developed and built by US oil companies (mostly) and then stolen by Maduro.
Also, Venezuela has more resources that benefit the US than Cuba.
But who knows, Trump still has 3 years left, Cuba might "come around"!

If we invade Venezuela they will not be turning into a democracy within the 21st Century. Just as with Vietnam and Afghanistan we will fuk up their government for generations to come and at our own great expense.

Jesus, we're going backwards as a country.

If we could roll Cuba into CAFTA and start allowing American tourism again, they could probably make a go of it. They'll never be an technologically advanced democracy, but they could get up to Dominican Republic level.

We could nation build there though. It's just a few tens of miles from Key West.

This. We act like foreign entanglements are our way of spreading "freedom" and will create a democracy in these far off lands, maybe "rescue" their people.

Can we name one country we've got in the middle of since 1920 or so that has adopted freedom and democracy, outside of the world wars?

Egypt - no
Iran - no
Cuba against the Spanish - not really
Cuba against Castro - heck no
Vietnam - no
Korea - no more than it had in 1945 and is still technically at war
Somalia - no
Iraq - no
Irag but in another year - no
Afghanistan against the Soviets - no
Afghanistan but against the Taliban - no
Panama - not really? Also we gave up the canal
Yugoslavia - sort of
Nicaragua - no
Syria - no
The war on drugs - not until 2025

This reminds me of those guys that go out and buy beacoup expensive golf clubs and never worry about how ugly their swing is (and they suck at golf). Kinda silly in the big picture if you know what I mean

Rubios benefactor, Paul Singer, is the man who has a hard on for regime change in Venezuela. I reckon this is some payback for the support
