Theres gonna be a lockout in 2027

They have to do something. It’s not that their payroll is so high. Baseball has always had teams with large and small payrolls. It’s the deferred money.

At least they won back to back World Series and reaped huge marketing returns.
What the hell are the Mets getting out of that $91 million check?

The league is flawed, salary cap wise.
But it speaks more to the lower market teams that WILL NOT SPEND.
Clown organizations out solely for profit.

240 cap, 180 floor. If you can't hit the floor, you have the distribute the difference to players on the roster..

personally can't wait for the lockout, MLB deserves it for letting this shite continue.

This. The problem is the players union is supporting the high payroll and against the low floors for the crappy paying teams.
Who is going to lock out? The high payroll teams willingly paying the tax? No
The mid tier teams?

So a lot of players will get paid way over their value just to achieve the floor?

quote:In theory, a cap would keep a handful of teams from hoarding top talent because they’re willing and able to outspend other teams. So there’d be more high salary guys signing with smaller market teams because the Dodgers and Yankees will have to operate under a salary cap.
