The American Federation of Type 2 Diabetics, an advocacy group with over 2 million type 2 Diabetics as members, has announced a rare foray into politics, pledging to spend money against members of congress who vote in favor of repealing 2 controversial aspects of the Affordable Care Act.

Policy makers have their eyes set on Obamacare’s community rating mandate and essential benefits mandate.

The community rating mandate bars insurers from charging individuals higher premiums if they have health conditions that require more medical care. Instead, premiums are determined by an average across all individuals in a region. Critics of community rating say it has resulted in higher costs for most Americans, while benefiting a smaller percentage of individuals with chronic conditions.

Critics of the essential benefits mandate argue it is a backdoor way of transferring funds from those who rarely use insurance to those who use it often. Individuals who would not use the new benefits would still be required to pay the higher premiums for the benefits. By collecting higher premiums without having to reimburse any providers a parallel amount, insurers can use the profits to lower premiums of high-usage individuals, such as type 2 Diabetics.

The Federation said in a statement that these 2 reforms have substantially reduced monthly premiums for Diabetics in America, and that repealing the mandates will result in higher costs for its members.

Proponents argue that these 2 aspects of the ACA raised monthly premiums for key groups such as young workers, healthy individuals, and those who prefer catastrophic health insurance.

Tangentially speaking I always found it silly that the most vocal supporters of socialized medicine, the young, are the ones who need it the least. Do they not understand that they will be subsidizing the people who use it the most, older people.

The fatties making poor lifestyle choices want me to pay for their medicine to keep them alive, fat, and making the same choices?

No way.

This won’t move the needle until 50 Nobel laureates pen a letter to Trump

The most glaring issue with most morbidly obese is the refusal to accept responsibility for getting that way.

The reason young people tend to be vocal about healthcare is because they have no resources and everything to lose. If a young person gets in a car accident and doesn’t have insurance, they’re financially f$&ked forever, not to mention how the injury could impact their earning potential. They haven’t had the time to build up reserves and wealth to draw from to pay for massive unexpected medical bills. They’re usually starting their careers tens of grand in debt, competing for entry level jobs, often just for the benefits.

Having no healthcare makes people incredibly risk averse because one medical mishap, when you’re already living paycheck to paycheck barely getting by and heavily in debt from the jump, will completely ruin you. It’s the same reason young women are so pro abortion. A lot of young women who are just barely affording life at the beginning of their careers or making it through college on financial aid would be completely and irreparably financially ruined by carrying an unexpected pregnancy to term and caring for a newborn. The working youth cannot afford children, so the young women are pro abortion to give them a safety net in case of accidents. The same is true for healthcare.

They need a support group not a federation.

Type 2 diabetes is the the result of fatness and laziness. They should have to pay for their meds out of pocket.

I wunner how much taxpayer money they are getting?

Why of course THOSE with diabetes should be paying more. For the most part, Type2 diabetes is driven by unhealthy LIFESTYLE choices.

That's like saying some person that has 5 DWI's, lot of crashes, speeding tickets galore should have the rest of us pay higher auto insurance because of THEIR stupidity.

Here is the cliff notes of how to cure MOST Type 2 Diabetes:

Get rid of those nasty seed oils, aka soy, canola (not really a seed oil), corn... in the food system.
The way they are produced is criminal.
Heated to extreme high temps, chemicals, additives, even deodorant added to them.

Next are sugars and HFC in the food supply. Big 'food' has hundreds of different ways to disguise them. They use all these fancy names but, in the end, they are crap and contributing to the diabetic pandemic.

This is the way.... I have friends on 3& 4 meds for diabetes, and they all eat like shite and i mean ice cream candy and the likes, all have health issues,
I admit i cheat, and i suffer for days after a cheat type 2 can be reversed with diet and lifestyle change FACT many have done it, maybe if the loose a foot or leg they might learn

They want to tax the other guy to pay for everyone else. It's only FAIR that the rich pay their fair share (never say what that amount is) so that they can get everything free. But hey is sounds good.
