A former Gulf Coast Mardi Gras queen was sentenced to more than six years in prison after pleading guilty to defrauding her employer of more than $1.8 million, money that prosecutors say she spent on extravagant purchases leading up to 2025 Carnival season.

Kelley James Williamson, 47, who worked as a manager at several Mobile, Alabama companies for about 20 years, misused a company signature stamp to write herself checks and electronically transfer money to her bank account between 2014 and 2024, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.

Earlier this year, local media outlets reported that Williamson, then a manager and payroll clerk at a Mobile disaster relief and storm debris removal company, used the stolen money to dine at expensive restaurants, host parties and ship an ice sculpture from New Orleans.
