How many miles is too many miles?
Finding plenty of 50k-99k on net, when do they start costing $$?
Wife will drive it and she never puts over 8k-9k per year on her autos.

If you're looking at ones with the 4.7L V8 I wouldn't flinch at low 100's if the timing belt has been done on it. I've had two with that engine (still have one) and they're nearly indestructible and known to go on and on and on.

They are tanks.
My bride is pushing 160k on her 2016 with no repairs other than regular maintenance.
Find a CPO at a good price and don’t look back.

They are awesome. I wish they price would drop on them so I could find one.
I loved my 4runner but needed a 3rd row.
I have felt like 90-120k is the sweet spot for buying Toyota stuff. If they had any gremlins they're weeded out by then. And with routine maintenance they will go 300k plus pretty trouble free.

No bad habits, poor mpg for the class.
Extremely solid, one of very few vehicles I'd consider used with 60K+ miles.
Check for paintwork, go to a Lexus dealer and run the VIN to verify service history, open recalls, etc.

Caravana and Carmax has plenty of listings in the 30k-40k price range with shipping being additional. Not sure I would want one from up north due to road salt issues and rust.
She’s driving a 15 edge that needs a $1,500 water pump in there’s future so I don’t want to jump into another problem.

If you find one under 75k miles that meets your price and trim, get it. Solid vehicles.

There are two in Laffy I’m looking hard at.

Wife got hers with 40k miles from a little old lady. Great vehicle

typically is a 4 year 50K mile factory warranty which is why you see so many available. Folks get rid of them vs paying for an expensive extended warranty

460s are not considered quite as tough as the 470, but the diffenece is pretty miniscule.
470s regularly sell on used market with 200K miles and that is considered about 'normal' wear.
The 460, if it has been properly maintained and tender driven (which most are becuase they mall crawlers), then anything under 100K miles is still very good.
If you find one under 50K, it should basically be brand new.
The only True age wear items on these vehicles are the radiators. Even if you pamper them, the Radiator will begin to leak at 10-12 yrs of age. It's just the design due to plastics that shift. You can replace with an all aluminum Mishimoto and it will lats forever. Otherwise it's basically a $2K dealer job.
The 4.6 engine is very good, but some develop plate valley leaks over a long period of time. This is due to the pink Toyota coolant that is too acidic for the seals. If you replace with red, non-acidic coolant flush, then you should be fine.
The Gx460 is one of the last overbuilt Lexus/Toyota vehicles that was on the road. It's a tank.
Take care of them and last 300K miles easy. The he'sd lights are just a pain. The low beams are shite.

Absolutely avoid northern cars.
Corrosion is still an issue.

I've owned a few and only had trouble with rust on one truck, which was my own darn fault.
The rest have all been just about perfect. Modern paint, coatings, and rust proofing (post 1990ish) is a game changer.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't look closely at a car. It also doesnt' mean I would buy a Fiat or off-brand car blindly. And I would look down south first.

I’ve been trying to talk my wife into getting one for a while and getting rid of her suburban. What I found is exactly what everyone else is saying. I don’t understand why the used ones don’t command a higher price. Seem to be the best value out there.

Bought one a year ago from CarMax. Came from Miami Beach area. 9k miles and 23 model. Don’t know what trim level but had everything we’d ever need on something other than remote start and can get that on a Toyota app for a subscription I think. Wonderful vehicle. Plenty of power and I get around 20 mpg in mixed driving. Hers has red leather seats on a white vehicle with black and grey interior which threw me off to start with but they aren’t nearly as bright as they looked in the pics online. CarMax shipped it to Mobile for us to look at for like $250 (distance based so would have been a lot more if it had been further away).
As said earlier it’s the last Toyota V8 vehicle sold here I know about. If I could find another for the right $$$ I’d buy it and put my daughter in it.
It’s basically a 4Runner with a V8. Wish it was part time 4x4 rather than AWD but that’s only possible flaw I could find in it. One of the better SUV’s ever made imho.
