U.S. gasoline prices are set to fall to the lowest level since 2020, thanks to increasing supplies, despite some ongoing refinery maintenance, GasBuddy has predicted. GasBuddy has predicted that U.S. motorists will pay an average of $2.79 per gallon on Christmas Day, down from $2.95 per gallon a year ago. That will mark the cheapest gas since prices averaged $2.26 per gallon in the Christmas of 2020.

The national average price of gasoline has continued on a downward trend after dropping below $3 a gallon two weeks ago, sinking to their lowest level since 2021. The average U.S. gas price is now $2.905 per gallon, down from $3.030 a year ago. However, prices vary widely by state, with motorists in Oklahoma paying $2.339 per gallon compared to $4.343 in California. Diesel prices have seen an even steeper decline, with the national average price of diesel currently standing at $3.642 per gallon, down from $3.765 a month ago.

Crude oil prices are currently falling due to a significant global oversupply, weaker-than-expected demand growth, and easing of geopolitical risk premiums. Brent crude for February delivery was trading at $59.88 per barrel at 13.15 pm ET on Wednesday afternoon, down from $62.44 a week ago, while WTI crude for January delivery fell to $56.12/barrel from $58.74 a week ago.

And you will always be. Blame your crack head policies. At least the weather is nice.

I've never understood the obsession with gas prices. At most, I'm using 20 gallons a week.

For me, that's a lot of work to save less than $5 a week.
Maybe it's worth it for someone who's on the road all week.

For anyone with a decently long commute, it’s a big deal.

Imagine how low it would be if California wasn’t fricking over its citizens for the feelings of a few.

Because everything you buy gets to the place you purchased it with gas. Not unicorn farts and fairy dust.

Gas or diesel factors into every. single. thing. you. buy.

Every product that makes it to a shelf or gets delivered to your door required gas or diesel to do so. Even if the fancy Amazon EV was the final delivery vehicle, the product only made it to the distribution center on a diesel 18 wheeler. The freight trains run on diesel as well. Not to mention the cost of running heavy machinery or farm equipment which is all gas or diesel based.

So yeah the price of gas or diesel is a pretty big deal across the economy, your weekly fill up being a little cheaper is just a nice bonus.

Comparing gas prices and beef prices and what drives them is kind of an apples and oranges comparison.

I just saw the same. Funny thing is I will still see videos on social media, usually from California, showing prices and trying to blame Trump, and I always respond..."keep digging on why gas prices are high in California, you're getting there".
