I read a few days ago that he and the wife were divorcing but I never researched it after reading that.

I saw the same thing after he was initially put on leave, and read some rumors about an affair with a nursing student, but it seems like the school must've unearthed some bigger shite than that.

Honestly, Ohio U should at least give him a call. They plucked Solich off the scrap heap, and he coached there until his mid-70s.
BK likely won't be interested, but that job would be more his speed now, and he'd probably be successful.

I think the chaotic Covid season is what finally gave him the urge to walk away.
Ohio had an incredibly stable coaching staff for a long time. Solich as HC, Tim Albin OC, and Jim Burrow DC were hired in 2005.
Daddy Burrow walked away in 2019 to watch Joe and LSU. Solich retired after 2020. Albin took over as HC in 2021, and left for the Charlotte job last season.
Brian Smith was Albin’s OC for a few years before being promoted to HC.
They aren’t used to this kind of upheaval.

coaches fricking students was a hell of a lot more common than I thought it was.

The university was being real hush hush on this one and the official Ohio message board was banning rumor posts. Sounds like potential infedility is the main culprit here.
The main rumor is about him being involved with a nursing student.. not sure if that’s true though. Ohio has a strong journalism program so I expect the full truth will come out soon enough.
