NFL tells Panthers a seemingly obvious incompletion was actually a catch

This was the play where, late in the game, McMillan was diving to try & make the catch, had 2 hands on the ball, then, as he hit the ground, the hand on the bottom side of the ball came off allowing the ball to hit the ground
It was ruled a catch, Saints challenged & won, overruling it to incomplete
Now the NFL tells the Panthers it should've been confirmed as a completed pass...

To be fair, if I were a ref in that game, I'd rule it as a catch. Hell, it was impressive he held on to the ball and it didn't move.
Edited to say, when we challenged the call, I thought maybe he didn't get two feet in.

Yet still no accountability for the Refs. Not fines, no suspensions.

To be fair... the referee of this game is a 1st year referee... replacing a referee who was demoted back to umpire for poor performance

Had not clicked the article that I am sure is citing anonymous sources, but I wonder who made the call to overturn the play. The officials on the field ruled it a catch, I thought it was a catch because the ball never moved once he secured it, and it was overturned during the review. The league changed the handling of the reviews to include New York, and the official stance is that any reviews are performed collaboratively between the officials in NY and the officials on the field.

You can't say he had control when that control was because the ball was on the ground.

He basically trapped it. The ball hit the ground and he had one hand on top of the ball and then the ball moved. It was clearly not a catch

These things rarely go the Saints way. Once in a blue moon, the NFL makes a big deal about it.
No one cares or it gets reported when the Saints get screwed.
The Panthers won the division against the Saints with a poorly called game years ago.
The ref allowed 12 men in the huddle for the Panthers over and over again in the Dome.
The lead ref is from North Carolina operating a business there and went to school in North Carolina.
Brad Allen was the ref. Payton pointed out the conflict of interest and controversial call keeping the Panthers drive alive to win the game.

When I did work, Yes you would get docked pay and if it happened routinely you would be fired.
Accountability.
The companies didn't owe us a job like most seem to think they do these days. Which IMO is was quality has gone to shite in the last few decades. No one cares because they're going to get paid anyway.

No... I was pointing out that an official had been demoted due to poor performance (Tra Blake was a referee last year... demoted to umpire this year)
Since the post I was responding to said "nothing would happen" to an official who misses calls
To add to it... this officiating crew also has some iffy marks this year

It wasn't close to a catch and I doubt the NFL "admitted" anything to the Panthers.

It wasn’t an obvious incompletion. It was an obvious legitimate catch. When they reviewed and ruled it incomplete I was confused as to the logic used. Even the bozo retired referee rules guy chimed in and agreed it was incomplete. Wrong. It was a catch. There is no consistency from game to game from referee to referee as to what constitutes a catch.
