For a few of you & you know who you are. Ratt is better than Shough…. Wasted 2nd rd pick….
And so on. Take your lumps like a man.

The Ratt posters for the most part have done that. Rattler is a good option as a backup. No need to harp on that point.

A lot of people should be eating crow for their draft weekend meltdowns, though.

I like Shough, but we need to factor-in that he’s only 1 year younger than NFL veteran Lamar Jackson.

We are acting like he’s this young rookie, he’s old enough to be on his second contract.

Age doesn't matter. He has already shown at worst that he is a competent starting NFL QB.

Personally, I like to just shrug off the early regrets. Everyone makes their choices, and sometimes the draft gods just laugh at us. Take the lumps, learn, and hope next pick pays off.

So.

A 10 year career is easily do able in todays NFL, He'd be 36. If he's good, no need to look any further for a QB. He's done everything he needs to do so far to make drafting a QB a non option in 2026.

I think Ratts in a great position.

He struggled, with the same Cast of characters and was replaced.
It feels like an ego hit. I know people have been demoted in my field and it takes a emotional toll on them.

At the end of the day, hes going to have the option to make great money as a backup or try with another team as a starter and still make great money.

If you gave most people the option, they would love to be an NFL Backup who can bragg he was a "starter" back in his day.

He still has plenty of opportunities under his belt.

How do you "factor it in"?
Please explain how you do it.

I’ve watched the Saints now for 40 years. After a few games it was easy for me to see he was nothing more than hopefully a competent back up. But I wonder with his limited snaps as a back up if he can even be effective as one.

Why is this such a big deal. Pretty sure the announcers pointed out that love and rodgers were the same as shough when they made their first start. Im sure theres others too.

Would you rather have a 27 year old quality QB or a team like tenn or clev and have young guy after young guy that aren't even starting by the time they are 27 and its a revolving door

I think Rattler moves on when his contract is done. He knows he will not be able to replace Shough, and would need an injury to step in. Therefore, he'll make his way to a QB needy team in hopes of becoming their starter, with the realistic mindset that he could be a career backup. But he will have to do that if he has any hope to be a long-term solution somewhere.

And there is nothing wrong with that, and most of the fans will wish him the best...as long as he stays out of the NFC South or he'll dead to us

This is the real issues. A bunch of know-nothing passive college football watchers sit back and bitch about players they know absolutely nothing about as if they are experts studying game tape on every player in the draft. It's beyond stupid

Given CKM's track record with QBs, I wonder if we shouldn't start drafting whichever QB he likes best in rounds 3-6 every other year, developing that QB in his system, and then flipping them for higher draft picks 2 seasons down the road.

Would be a lucrative and steady stream of additional draft capital to invest in a roster (kind of an Eagles type approach).

Mentioned in another thread he might draft another QB in later rounds if he likes them and some flipped out. Is our 2nd and 3rd stringers really that good. And as to the FA market this year its going to be depleted as the draft is not chock full and veteran QBs will be in extremely high demand this year. Many teams are desperate for QBs. Many said it wouldn't happen this draft but two are going in the top five. Maybe the Bamer later in the first.
