Regardless of what the haters say. They have a NET of 41. They are 9-2 with their 2 losses to Vandy (7) and LSU (32). They have wins over Butler (43) Miss St on the road (132) and TAM (81). Is is just ridiculous that there are LSU "fans' that hate this coach so much that they feel the need to crap on anything positive. It really is pathetic. What does this say about LSU? That they can overcome adversity in the first half and control a game from start to finish against a good team. That they can bounce back from a horrible loss with a solid win. That's it. And that's good enough for now. They come out of the woodwork after TT loss but just can't accept that Mcmahon did a good job of keeping his team competitive in the second half of the Texas Tech game even though they were down by 30 at half and ended up playing even with them the 2nd half. They held a prospective POY candidate to 11 points. That second half effort continued against SMU. It's called a learning experience and will hopefully prepare them for the SEC gauntlet.

Please stop. I’m begging you it will be ok. We all agree it was a good win. You are not actually required to freak out and try to defend McMahon at every waking moment of the basketball season.

People love to throw out his 14-40 record which is valid… hear me out

But even only 5 of those 14 were Q1 wins.

His Q1 record at LSU is 8-35.

It might have been his best win at LSU (maybe the 68-53 win @ A&M in 2023).

The A&M game on 1/3/26 might sneak back into Q1, but our next Q1 opportunities will be @ Vandy on 1/10 & vs UK on 1/14. Need to win at least one of those vs Vandy & UK

I will always root for LSU, regardless of the coach. SMU was a great win. But also, don’t go into hiding if McMahon gets smoked in the SEC again. That being said, I hope he doesn’t. If he does, LSU needs to go in a different direction

Uh no. You don't all agree it's a good win. And I'm defending common sense not mcmahon. And I'm not freaking out. The people constantly commenting negatively at every opportunity regardless of the situation are the people freaking out.Maybe you are freaking out responding to my post. The idiots posting negative crap at halftime are the ones freaking out. The idiots posting negative comments after a win are the ones freaking out. This isn't about Mcmahon any more. This is about mentally unstable unhappy miserable dweebs whose lives are so pathetic they sit around waiting for an opportunity to pounce on their keyboard and spread negativity whether it's warranted or not like a fricking stalker. That's basically what they've become. Stalkers. So how about telling the stalkers not to freak out anymore.

Where is anyone saying that SMU wasn't a good win? That single win saved LSU's non-conference schedule; and gives LSU a much much better chance of making the Tournament.

If LSU loses that game they're looking at having to go 10-8 in the SEC.

Don't get mad at the people who can't get out of their own way to feel something positive. Feel bad that they have been engulfed in the 2025 pop culture phenomenon of being a victim. They can keep complaining and whining that they deserve better. Guess what? That's not how it works.

I am personally enjoying the ride with this team who seems to at least have a competitive edge this year. I'm not sure if McM is the right man for the job but I sure as hell hope so. While it's a bit annoying for it to be the talking point following any game is sad, but just feel bad for those with the vendetta.

Probably would be the Tyrell Ward tip in at the buzzer against Kentucky in 23-24

I hope to see the front page of the rant filled with basketball threads. I really hope it will happen if we win consistently. But till then I will celebrate a win and move on.

I don't hide from anything.I have said if he doesn't make the tournament this year it is time to go. But let's not act like his previous record isn't also a reflection of the investment LSU has made in the NIL the last 3 years. We have been at the bottom along with SC. That's why I am willing to judge him harder this year as opposed to previous years. I have a friend that is involved in the NIL arena and it is a fact that until this year LSU wasn't providing the funds comparable to the other successful SEC schools. This year he was given significant funds compared to last 3 years and it shows with Thomas, Nwoko and Sutton. Will see how far he can take them but at least be happy when they compete and win. In the end everything will take care of itself.

I was looking at it from a 12 pt margin of victory vs a Q1 team, but yeah that Kentucky team was probably the best team that he beat

He was 45-53 going into this year (year 4) in the NIL and portal era.

Stop acting like he didn’t deserve criticism or heat.

This. There is no way to spin a narrative that McMahon has been good during his time at LSU. The heat is warranted.

This team plays hard and seems to have the athletes to compete in the SEC. The Texas Tech loss is a bit concerning, but we'll see if it's an outlier or the first of more to come.

Appreciate your positivity. I do believe the majority of our fan base want LSU to win but at this point many need to see more than one good win to put MM in the approved bucket.

Never said he shouldn't be criticized when warranted but it's also about the players and if you are at the bottom of the NIL for 3 years that is what you are going to get. He competed with crap last year. Not even an SEC caliber PG. So no he doesn't suck as a coach. Is he better than Wade? At this point no but Wade was getting his players because they were getting paid before NIL was legal. Got no problem with that as the other programs were too. he just got caught. The problem is the Wade sycophants wanted Woodward to be so wrong about letting Wade go that they rooted for Mcmahon to lose so they could be right. That's pretty much it. There were guys that wanted him fired after his first season.LOL. Idiots. he may not end up working out but let's at least see how he does on a more level playing field this year.

SMU has been a better team than us for a few years. We were closely matched other than overall height, they always have giants. Hats off to Sutton for the gritty play, was it 3 and 1s in the first half, giving cushion to McKinnon and others. This is without our best big man. I didn’t see tech but stats say they were flat. We got more to prove but unfortunately losing Reed may have created a better chemistry on the settled 8.

Tigers play selu Fri.
Lions don’t seem to have the depth they did in previous years. They are tough as always though.

Can you provide proof of this other than word of mouth?

Talent evaluation is one of the many responsibilities of the head coach. He's had 4 years to get his players here.

I think the mood would be completely different if Texas tech didn’t skullfrick us.

I am still in wait and see mode. I am skeptical but the bottom half of the conference is much weaker than last season. No more excuses to not make the tournament.
