Are the players that are entering the portal still practicing?

Do they just pack up or do they remain until after the bowl game? Mainly wondering about Kylan Billiot I hate that he choose to enter the portal before the Kiffin era. And hopefully Lane gets to see him at practice but he probably already packed it in.

If you hit the portal, you don’t get to still enjoy the amenities of being an LSU football player.

Some do some don’t. Johnson is entering the portal, but he is still playing in the bowl game.

If you’re playing in the bowl game (see Ju’Juan Johnson), I’d imagine yes.

Not the first time that’s happened, I remember the safety from Pittsburgh that transferred back home to Pitt did it a few years back. He got to play RB in the bowl game and I’m pretty sure it was known he was leaving at the time.

Well the portal is not technically open yet. But I guess it’s the same I suppose thanks for clearing that up.

Kylan Billiot

Prime example of the negative side of the portal. LSU brought in CJ Daniels, Nic Anderson, Brown over the last 2 seasons and got nothing in return on the investment.

The results... Your HS signees like Watkins and Billiot dont get the opportunity to develop. Now they are hitting the portal.

And the same thing will happen at other schools and players hit the portal and get opportunities elsewhere.
Of which I would anticipate to be the benefactor with Kiffin’s ability to get talent in the portal.

Some players are kind of being forced out. No reason to be rude.

& more often that not, these guys end up at some Sun Belt, CUSA, AAC school. If they had the talent, they would see the field (a la Kyle Parker)

No player has hit the portal yet, so all are eligible to practice and play in the bowl game. They have only announced an intent to enter.

Breaux is playing in the bowl game and still practicing. It's another game to put on the tape

This is a potential and serious downside of the portal. The staff must be able to evaluate the players to minimize this effect.

It helps bowl game effort ironically since those players want to show out for potential suitors.

I wonder if the ones that dont practice or play in the bowl are the ones being told to go?

If they weren't better than non existent Nic Anderson and butterfingers Barion Brown that's the reason they didn't see the field. LSU was struggling to field Wars who could actually catch this year.

Since the portal officially doesn’t open until January, most will still play in the game. Most players are just stating their intention to enter. Previous years, the portal opened in December.

I think Watkins wants to focus on track and not be one of the only 2-3 athletes on the men's side to place at nationals.

Huh? N Anderson has been hurt most of the time at LSU...CJ Daniels was last year also and not at LSU this season. If that is the EXCUSE then how in the hell did one in particular become a recognizable WR this season after starting off good last season before injury.
Signed, Kyle Parker #12

Every player practices if healthy. If Watkins who was really more a track guy and Billiot were so good, they would have hit the game field more. Parker had no trouble doing that and he ended up being darn valuable.
