Bought some ground meat on sale at Rouse's last weekend. Put in the fridge but forgot about it as I usually will put in the freezer until use.

Took out the refrigerator today. 90% brown but smelled fine. I don't plan on using for hamburger but Its still good right?

Smells fine is fine in my book.

Up to you if the risk is worth the cost though.

Should be fine, yes. The brown discoloration is the normal process over time. Oxygen changes the color (oxymyoglobin + metmyoglobin).

Brown is fine. Green is a different story.

If it smells fine it's fine. I've eaten ground meat that had been in the fridge for two and a half weeks.

It's fine.

Thanks all. Probably use it for dressing for Christmas. I make it the day before so I'll feel it if there are any issues.

They always say "If it's brown throw it down, in the pot"

Make chili and throw in enough jalapeños to kill anything that needs killing.

Ever buy Ground Round? They take the Round Steak add a little water, grind it into Ground Round. They take a round steak you wouldn’t buy in steak form, an make it look better!

The round is a primal cut. A lot of meat there, not just good for round steaks.

I raised my own cattle for years. The Round Steaks, were a great gravy steak. I’d also take the shoulder rounds, cut them up, run them through the tenderizer, make veal cutlets or minute steaks.

Well wait that's a week and a half from now. You'd have to check then if you think it's worth giving everyone coal for the holidays.

I almost posted the same thing, but then figured maybe he means he wants to freeze it now and then defrost and use it then?
