LHSAA officiating

The LHSAA does a very poor job with its officiating. All weekend long the officials were poor and in some situations didn’t seem to apply the rules correctly. Also, you play the whole season with no replay review and all of a sudden you use it in the championship game. There were numerous times when nobody knew what was going on and whether a play should be reviewed or not. The penalty on the Shaw kid was the right call but the timeout should not have been returned to SCC because the penalty occurred after the timeout was called. Earlier in the game SCC was gifted a touchdown and Shaw was given a first down that was short and never reviewed after two other first downs were reviewed on the same drive. Just overall chaos on part of the officials. The LHSAA needs to do better!

And you are surprised LA high school refs getting paid $100 a game are bad?
If its so easy you should sign up
Hopefully AI takes over officiating in all sports within a decade

Wrong board.
Shity takes anyway. It ain’t fricking easy .. they have great ones and not so great. Harder to get the not good out because it’s a difficult gig for the compensation. Time and grief.. so people aren’t lining up to officiate in today’s world.

I'll have to look but I don't believe I confirmed they sucked.
This post is just a travel ball parent having too much emotion invested and yelling at the umpires or coach. It does nothing to improve the situation it is just complaining.

For those considering officiating: I’m an old guy now, but I called high school football back in the day. It was just about the most fun I had while standing up.
This was in another state, and not everyone scored high on their rules exams. I scored in the high 90’s, but a lot of referees - who were supposed to be running the games - scored in the 80’s! It wasn’t a surprise there was confusion at times.
It’s not a particularly easy job; but it can be fun, if you know what you’re doing. We didn’t get paid much, but I would have done it for free.

Have a friend that has decided to start working his way into collegiate officiating as a side gig. Wild how much training and continuing education they do for absolute shite pay.
Hearing him talk about his missed calls and other challenges makes me realize that pay isn't the driver for the guys that do this.

No one wants to do it anymore because it's not worth dealing with the increasingly shitty public.
