If tweet fails to load, click here. Wonder if he is insinuating they thought they were sending a pick swap, or picks were automatically protected or something

This is libelous. I hope Hollinger has a good lawyer. I'm sure he will post his retraction just as prominently.. "well somebody told me and I thought they meant"..

The lack of protection was dumb but this is dumber

Can't take anything that comes out of Hollinger's mouth seriously. He hates the Pelicans more than life itself.

I am very critical of this org but Hollinger is full of shite. He weirdly absolutely hates this team. Don’t believe a word he says.

The most generous interpretation I can make is he's trying to say Bryson Graham knew the team would suck because he was here and Dumars didn't because he was new. That makes some sense but I'm doing some heavy lifting for him.

Agreed. Also Bryson even came out and said he had to triple check on what the Pelicans were offering. So the Pelicans did understand the trade.

Not saying the move was smart but this sounds like bullshite and a conspiracy theory that there will be no evidence to come out to refute it.

I’ll give you this, you are relentless in your attempts to defend that horrific trade. Though I agree this seems a little dubious.

Dumars is very dumb. He drafted Darko Milicic over Carmelo Anthiny and got lucky with a great coach in Brown who went up against the Civil War between Shaq and Kobe at its height.
I bet Joe dumbass thought he was trading a swap.
But all of this falls on the worst owner in sports Gayle "gold digger" Benson. She doesn't care about the teams she owns winning.
Remember Queen will end up costing two firsts, with one possibly be the #1 overall pick.

Joe Dumars had no business ever working in an NBA front office again...
Queen looking like a legit centerpiece option going forward is the only reason there are not riots from the 5 pelicans fans left.

If tweet fails to load, click here. That makes sense and explains why some of the 9-12 teams turned the deal down--they didn't understand the totality of what was being offered.

It was a bet that they would not be as injured as the previous year, a large bet that Zion would be healthy. Was it the wrong bet? Absolutely.
But that's what they believed and they knew what they were giving up.

Sports illustrated article
Pels needed multiple calls
Pelicans reporter Shamit Dua wrote that when New Orleans offered Atlanta the trade, the Hawks couldn’t believe the terms, particularly the unprotected 2026 first-rounder.
Atlanta asked for clarification multiple times, and eventually Onsi Saleh personally phoned Dumars to make sure the Pelicans were serious and the pick was truly part of the deal.
Yea, this is not confirmed. But it was reported by sports illustrated. Believe what you want.

I believe hollinger over Dua

To me personally, it doesn't matter which one is right. It is either incompetence or ingorance? Is that the argument here? Both fireable offenses in a performance based position, no matter who actually signed off on it in the end.

This quote has to be the most reposted quotation in Pelicans talk forum history. I don't think it's close anymore. Since it was printed, it had to posted over 50 times by now. Its not always the same person either. People throw it up like they are dropping a true bomb. I've seen it multiple times in the same thread even. It's crazy..

I guess it’s because people have a hard time believing a guy who is a GM in the NBA could do something so stupid. I still have a hard time believing it.

1) they had top five valuations on both Fears and Queen, they believed they were trading for a top 5 pick a year in advance
Wait I thought it was fears 5 and queens 6. He saying they was both in top 5. Has anybody seen the exact rumored spot Pels had each?
