Anyone know if this is a done deal? Would Shell keep LLOG as a separate entity???

Done deal. Beacon is next. That would leave Talos as pretty much the last opportunity for any international company not already in the gulf to enter the gulf.

I hate to see another private company get taken out, but that'll allow Shell to Divest and boom, you'll see some private equity come back.

How will this allow Shell to divest?

A very weird buy imo, only thing I can think of is that LLOG has some leases that Shell want. It is definitely not the infrastructure.

I was expecting PE to go after LLOG.

I think this makes way more sense. LLOG has plenty of potential. I feel bad for those employees unless the family really takes care of them. They have been cruising along in a cush spot, and now gotta work for shell.

You think Shell is going to go after Beacon as well? Why is Shell going after small independents?

Big 20k field in shenendoah just being brought online. A couple of other projects potentially in the pipeline. Shell hasn't had a big discovery in the gulf for a while and less risky to buy small deepwater companies with production than drill exploration wells.

Also a bunch of ex-shell people working at Beacon, they probably want their talent back.

at the 30k BPD now they need about 18 months to cover the purchase price.

Salamanca just came online this fall and still ramping up to 60k BPD. LLOG bought some of the Shell acreage in the gulf last year as well so they are familiar with future potential, Blacktip.

It seems cheap on the cocktail napkin math.

Plus LLOG basically built the playbook for newbuild developments in the GOM.

Vito, Whale and Sparta follow the exact concept LLOG did with their developments in the last decade +.

BP is doing the same now with Kaskida and Tiber.

How many LLOG jobs are in Covington? Curious how many of those jobs would be retained vs. folded into Shell's broader presence in New Orleans.

I am not sure on the number but the majority of the employees work out of the Covington office I believe.

BIL works for LLOG, seems like it's a done deal. I think employees are guaranteed 12-18 mo of employement.

They do - pretty sure LLOG owns Stone Creek next door or it was developed with the LLOG building and they all get access. Seems like there are hundreds of employees in that building

Yes, SC was built originally for LLOG employees but once the design got so big they pivoted to make it public also.
