Seems like the offense will always run through Kiffin. Not sure why this is neccessary.

They created this mess. If LK can’t coach the remainder of the season, than no one should. This thing has bs written all over it.

Lane has always said play calling is a collaborative effort when he was at Ole Miss. Given his immense success offensively, I say give the man what he wants and if he thinks Weis is key, I'm all in favor of doing what it takes to keep him.

Shouldn't have let him or any of the assistants go back for the CFP. Let Golding field his offense.

Ole Piss wanted it to burn it down, let 'em fricking burn it down.

I see where you're coming from but it's also a pretty low risk proposition for LSU with some upside to let this happen. Lots of people (like recruits and their families at times) are low information people and just look at things on the surface. If and when other teams negatively recruit against Lane for "abandoning his team in the playoffs," he can counter back by saying, "Look, we did all we could to do right by Ole Miss. I even let my staff finish the season with them before coming to Baton Rouge and I would've loved to have finished with them but Ole Miss wouldn't let me."

To me, it makes Lane come out looking like the grown up and Ole Miss looking petty, plus he knows they ain't winning it all with him so they certainly aren't going to win it all without him.

LSU had to know that once Ole Miss got their hooks back into Weiss, they’d try to keep him. Ole Miss would’ve never done the same for us if they had poached our coach.

I said this exact thing last night and was vilified for it. Nothing good will come of us helping OM.

But no contract has been signed so he can still go back to OM if he wants??

I may be wrong but I think Weis and the rest of the staff from Om that have signed agreements are just waiting on board approval to finalize those deals. I think.

I was hearing earlier this week from media that he and the other staff that went to Ole Miss for the playoff game had already signed binding agreements. Guess media was FOS as usual.

It includes an annual "look-in" to always make him the highest-paid SEC OC.

That seems a tad much.

We just gave our DC 3.1 million. Hard to imagine the OC was going to accept 2.

Why? It does nothing but show LSU's commitment to winning. If CWJ sucks, we can fire him. It's not like the buyout would be massive. If he's great, it keeps him pretty much locked in barring a HC opportunity. Seems like a good deal, no?

Had to give him an extra $500k a year to keep him from going back to Ole Miss
