He's listed at 5'9". Definitely not the Corey Raymond prototype. Unless he is honey badger good, I don't see LSU going after him as a cornerback. I could easily be wrong, though

Jakari Foster is the gem from Tech's defense in the portal. Lead the nation in interceptions.
ETA: Nevermind he's a senior. Fields had 3 picks and was Co Defensive Player in the CUSA. He's in the portal as well.

We don't really need to stand on semantics, do we?
Everyone (well almost everyone) knows that the portal is not officially open, but these announcements are the equivalent. They get the player's name out there so their agent can field the calls and have a deal worked out before the official date.
The "portal window" is a lie. Deals are being made all year long.

No, Brian Kelly is gone. LSU doesn’t take transfers from La. Tech, Southeastern, McNeese and Marshall anymore. We’ve seen time and time again how those guys pan out in the SEC. That’s why they are at those lower tier schools to begin with. Kiffin is and will only go after the most elite transfers from power 4 schools. And I thank God he is.

Amik Robertson was a 5'9 cornerback from Louisiana Tech. He was good
Tre Harris came from Louisiana Tech
On 2024 he was better than any wr on lsu roster.
Lane kiffin brought him to ole miss

Kiffin did get Tre Harris from Tech...guess he didn't pan out either. Not saying Richard is on that level, but blanket statements like that don't hold water

Tell us you’re retarded without telling us. You don’t think great players come from those smaller schools all the time? Just look at the NFL. Littered with former FCS and G5 players across the whole league.
Also, you didn’t like Jabril Cox or Zy Alexander or Bernard Gooden while at LSU?
How about that Trinidad Chambliss dude we’re going to go after? He sucks?

How about just get the best players no matter where they are from?
One of Kiffin’s best offensive transfers was from La Tech(Tre Harris), and best defensive guy was from ULL (Trey Amos)

Yep. This is the way. Great guys come from FCS and G5 schools all the time. Just look at Bernard Gooden at LSU this season.

If this doesn't put things into perspective nothing will.

5'9" too short, especially in SEC. Not LSU type DB. No offer from LSU out of HS.

You obviously don't pay a lot of attention. Sure, generally, blue chippers do better in their careers but that isn't always the case half the time. We've had plenty of blue chippers come here who didn't accomplish anything because they had sloppy work habits, were unintelligent, or had character flaws. In those cases, I would much rather have the former 3 star from the Sun Belt or AAC who can read an offense/defense and his only caveat is his 40 time is .2 slower and he's 2 inches shorter.

Or he’s just a late bloomer who go way bigger and better after high school. Not everyone is full-developed coming out of high school.

Fields was the better player in that secondary. Tech had a very good defensive unit. Freshman linebackers Jadon Mayfield and Zheric Hill, both of Ruston High, are two guys to keep an eye on the future.

I was so mad Corey didn't want him. He was ELECTRIC in high school and was always around the ball/play, like a Tyrann Mathieu. Just had incredible football instincts.

La Tech has 3 or 4 defensive players that would at least play for us. Their defense has been really good the last 2 years.
