Alabama beat the team they lost to on the road already. Yesterday is meaningless.

Miami beat Notre Dame on the field with nearly identical resumes.

End of discussion.

Miami not being good enough to make their conference championship(in the ACC no less) is being overlooked pretty hard by a bunch of people who have typed “but Alabama didn’t even make their conference championship!” about 7000 times a piece.

Irrelevant. You qualified over A&M while having the same SEC record and not playing them.

Miami lost a ridiculous 5 team tie breaker

3 losses

Among them, a 3 touchdown stomping and a 2 touchdown loss to a 5-7 dumpster fire.

No. If it weren't for the name Alabama they wouldn't get this hall pass. See; Vanderbilt at 10-2 with losses at Texas and Alabama and not even in the playoff discussion.

Alabama did set some sort of a record

Total rushing yards at the end of the conference championship game

Minus three yards.

That should be rewarded?

Put any other name in place of Alabama and pretend with a straight face that they'd be in a serious discussion about being in with 3 losses compared to two teams with 2

Oregon didn’t either and they are a top 5 seed most likely. Aggie nor Ole Miss made their CCG and both should be in the top 5 seasons.

Bama caught an L by two scores to a 5-7 team. They also got curb stomped by 3 scores by their “best win” in a rematch which cancels that win out.

Miami has 2 L’s to two 8-4 unranked teams.

ND has 2 losses, both in the first 2 weeks of the season by a combined 4 points.

The resumes aren’t close:

ND>Miami>Bama

I’ll give Alabama a pass there for having to play at Georgia while aTm did not.

Also aTm entered the last week needing 1 win to make the conference championship and lost, giving up control of their destiny.

You don’t think Alabama earned the SECC appearance over aTm? They had a more difficult SEC schedule.

They didnt make it because "rules". They're quite obviously the best and highest ranked team in the ACC and everybody knows that. Bama got absolutely bullied by a 4-8 team, lost at home to OU, and got crushed by their best win in a rematch. Not to mention barely survived several bad teams this year-LSU, SC, Auburn. If you look at full body of work bama kinda blows and they got exposed last night for what they are. An average 3 loss team with a pretty good qb and 0 run game. They shouldnt be in.

Well, this is what Fanduel thinks is going to happen. ND is -1500 to make the playoffs, Bama is -310, and Miami is +160.

Alabama’s offense is no doubt in bad shape. If we’re ranking teams on their trajectory, Alabama is in trouble.

Odds have been moving slightly all morning, but nothing major. I’m interested to see if they move a lot in the last hour.

No way someone in that committee room isn’t talking.

They could have declined the SEC championship invite and made the playoffs.

You will see teams do this, if they are left out for playing an extra game

No. They did not play.

Thus the ridiculousness of having conference championships with 16+ team leagues

Exactly. If Miami was in the same spot, nobody would want them in. If they had lost by two TDs to 5-7 Miss St, they wouldn’t even get mentioned.

So did Bama. Just beat FSU and you’re in.

Notre dame and Bama are going to be in and Miami is out. Everybody knows how this goes. BYU will be punished for their conf title loss but bama won't and notre dame will always get the benefit of the doubt even though they lost to Miami
