I believe there all the survivors are dead. Honor their memory.
Pearl Harbor minute by minute, this is 47 minutes long. There are others in Youtube with several chapters that would take a couple of hours to watch.

This one is Pearl Harbor, 24 hours after and it is over an hour if you have the time.

I have not had the opportunity to visit Pearl Harbor yet, but it is definitely a trip that I have to take at some point. If nothing else, I want to pay my respects to those that perished there.
I have seen that minute by minute Doc and it is incredible in its detail and information.
Events like this need to be remembered every year. Those that do not study history, are doomed to repeat it.

It's indescribable.
Suggest diamond head as well. I was fortunate enough to have a military pass and got to see all the bases and such. There's still barracks with bullet holes in them, it's just surreal.
I'm not military, stayed with some friends on base.

Last January, we took a day trip from the Big Island to see Pearl Harbor. Was just an amazing, yet humbling experience. While visiting a museum, you are also visiting a grave site. I definitely recommend anyone going to Hawaii, no matter what island you visit, to go spend time at Pearl

It would’ve been much worse if Task Force 8 (Halsey’s 13 ships) including the Enterprise was at Pearl Harbor. The task force was supposed to be back at Pearl on the 6th from a secret mission to Wake but encountered a storm plus refueling issues that pushed their arrival back even further.
The fact that the Japanese failed to launch a 3rd wave destroying the Navy Yard fuel tanks was a stroke of luck. That would’ve set the Pacific Fleet back months if that was destroyed.

So who were the multiple people who completely ignored the warnings and reports and kept us from defending against the attack?

“Pearl Harbor survivor Ken Schubring enlisted when he was just 17.”He’s now 103.

—-You could read a book or even go to wikipedia and find out.
US brass figured the closest the Japanese could get might be Midway, 1200 miles away, so they sent a carrier in that direction a few days before Dec 7. It turned around when it learned of the attack
Like in all surprise attacks, the top brass were guilty of a lack of imagination.

My dad used to watch Tora! Tora! Tora! when it was on network TV in the 70s and I used to watch it with him. I seem to remember it as a pretty good movie about Pearl Harbor. Got to visit the Memorial in 1986.
About 15 or so years ago I was staying at a Hampton Inn where several Pearl Harbor vets were staying for a reunion. I was in awe of those men and what they had to endure that day

pretty solemn place, you can still see drops of fuel oil occasionally bubbling up from the Arizona
ETA: if you go, go see the Mighty Mo', the Bowfin, and the Punch Bowl too

My grandmother owned a boarding house with 15 boarders. One week after Pearl Harbor every boarder had enlisted.
She changed the boarding house to a small inn.

Anybody who hasn’t visited should make it a priority. Pearl Harbor is obviously the highlight experience and not to be missed. There’s so much history all over those islands. Coming from Louisiana, I also enjoyed learning about their (now defunct) sugar industry. I think they still produced on Maui until the last 10 years or so.
