95-6 record as former HC at Mount Union (D3). 49 years old.

Kehres, who coaches the linebackers, has one of the best defenses in college football this season.

- Have held opponents to 14 points or fewer in six games.
- Rank second in the FBS in total defense (240.9 yards per game), trailing only Ohio State (212.6).
- Lead the nation in defensive passing efficiency (94.24).
- Rank third in the nation in first downs allowed (152), fifth in passing yards allowed (148.7), fifth in scoring defense (13.0 points per game), sixth in third-down conversion defense (29.6%), and seventh in rushing defense (92.2 yards per game).
- A two-time national champion as head coach at Mount Union before joining Toledo in 2020. Rocket defenders have earned All-MAC honors 31 times since Kehres' arrival, while four were selected in the NFL Draft.

Isn’t the whole point for Kiffin’s bro to coach the LBers?

2025 #2 overall defense in CFB aint bad.. but 5 years at Toledo is a lill sus. Guess COVID and whatnot

Mount Union, which his dad built is an absolute behemoth at the D3 level

His dad Larry Kehres was a whopping 332–24–3 for a .929 w% over 27 years

Yeah I asked in a thread that got wacked for some reason why he's been at Toledo for 5 years.

Usually guys that are on a huge upward trajectory get snatched quickly

lol, averaging less than a loss a season over 27 years is obscene.

Don't care what level you are at. If you can dominate defensively at that level then you can do it at the next level. You just have better athletes. There is no doubt in my mind that Eddie Robinson,at Grambling, who was the equivalent of Bear Bryant, would have been successful at the D1 level. And he coached lots of NFL Players at Grambling.

sounds like he knows what he is doing. Doesn't matter the level....his defensive players quality is playing against the same quality offensive players. No reason that his ability wouldn't translate to higher level.
I like this approach. This is how the really good coaches move up the ladder and anytimg you can get a coach that is a consistent winner anywhere, that is usually the guys that become household names when they get their big opportunity. I like this man's qualifications more than any other names that have been thrown out for DC.

If Kiffin wants him then it's fine.

The guy has never coached at a P5 program. That's a pass for me.

Urban Meyer was a WR coach for over 10 years before getting his first HC job.
