Sugar cane fields instead of corn fields. At least in Louisiana

I lived in Madison, Nebraska for a minute. Too cold in the winter and nothing to do

We have more black people. The weather is obviously a bit different. The cost of living is fairly reasonable like Nebraska, outside of the major metros.

The people are mostly pretty friendly. Plenty of baws. It's not all that incredibly different. The South and the Midwest have plenty in common.

Having spent time in both places one difference is Nebraska is a lot less densely populated. Even in remote parts of the south you're not far from at least some amenities. In parts of western Nebraska you're an hour or more from a doctor or grocery store.

High school wrestling is big in Nebraska. It's nonexistent in most of the south.

Every 15 miles you'll find a gas station with the best fried chicken in the world, served by a nice lady that refers to you as sug, honey, cher or baby.

Knew one guy from the Army from Nebraska. The woman he married is from Alabama. He got out and is working in Alabama so I guess he likes it.

Terrible.

I lived in Kansas for a year while my dad was in CGSC. Flat, boring, ugly women, unseasoned cooking. They do have very good bbq and I have to admit the best steak I've ever had was at an Italian Restaurant in Fort Leavenworth.

Stay north.

It's brutal down here.

People who have lived here their entire life will romanticize it, but the people are less friendly if you don't fit the mold, they are cliquish, gossipy. There is poverty everywhere, even in the places you wouldn't expect it. You actually run into folks who don't know how to read, or they can't think about anything other than exactly what you tell them.

These things exist everywhere, but they are in abundance down here.

The upper south is where it’s at ( KY, TN, Western NC and upper portions of Georgia and Bama). The heat is less intense, but you’ll get swamp arse anywhere down here come July-August. More hills and mountains and not endless plains of pine trees and swamps.

Not a lot of people in Nebraska and the south east isn’t land locked. Better football too.

Where I am in south Louisiana it doesn’t take long to drive to major cities or the beach.

The stats show we are doing better down here in the reading.

Those blue northern cities screwed their kids.

As someone who has been all over the country, the most ignorant people were living in California.

Alaska probably not far behind because of one person drags their small population down.
