Tulane will not announce anything until next week to avoid distractions for the conference championship game. Can’t blame them. They’re not concerned with LSU’s timetable.

It's going to be Napier.

Florida and Tulane with the coach swap.

He will do fine at Tulane and they will be able to keep him a while.

Have you heard anything, or is that your own conclusion?

There is no distraction. It would be more of a distraction if Sumrall hadn’t announced if he was leaving or not. We went through that with Fritz. Sumrall is leaving and leaving us in pretty good shape.

The smart move would be to announce the hire right before the game tomorrow. Especially if it is Baker it would excite the fans. And win or lose the spin would be that Tulane has the next coach to continue our winning ways (I know it’s recent success but it’s still success).

If it’s true Baker was offered the job then why is he taking so long to decide if he wants to accept or not? He is putting our defensive recruiting in a holding pattern. He is hurting us more than helping by waiting in my opinion.
The fact he interviewed for the Memphis job makes me wonder if he already knows they choosing someone else.

I’m wondering if Baker requested announcing post signing period.

I think he decides Friday night or Saturday. Imo doing LSU a favor by not announcing before majority of signings are in.

You do not interview at one place if you want to negotiate salary.

He doesn’t want Tulane to be cheap. It’s smart, too - if they frick around then he can make LSU D great next year and see what opens up in the next window.

Why? LSU already knows if Blake is staying or going. It doesn't impact anything. They're probably already looking for a new DC.

I can see that being an issue! Very important for a coach to attract players $$

Because kiffin/LSU is matching or going over the offer Tulane has on the table and Baker knows that transitioning from DC to a power 5 job is just as easy as a G5 head coaching position to power 5 coach.

He isn't hurting LSUs defensive recruiting....stop being dramatic. I mean didn't he meet with commits yesterday? But eeerrrmagawd he is sinking the defensive recruiting.

Bakers main concern is what is best for him and his family.

And interviewing at Memphis means nothing. He is one of the top coordinators. If he is truly interested in becoming a head coach sooner rather than later why limit yourself to one job? Perhaps he interviewed to get Tulane to commit to him faster....or get a raise from LSU.

Regardless if BB leaves or not LSU can find another really good DC.

Tulane has to be offering at least $3 million per - that's reportedly what Sumrall was getting and they know Baker is getting $2.5 million now. Is LSU really going to pay over $3 million for its DC?
