I still don't see how LSU is the bad guy. Our coach wasn't winning, We are a big school, and we wanted the best coach. No rule against what we did, so why is all of this LSU's fault? I can't help but think that if it was USC, Ohio State, or Oregon (not that those teams need a coach) that did this, the media uproar wouldn't be nearly so bad.
Yup. It doesnt matter who we hire, it really doesnt. If it was a small name coach it would have been whats wrong with lsu, lsu cant get big name coach, lsu isnt program used to be. I dont know what it is, but we are openly discussed in ways I dont see any program get shite on.
"It's just so typical of Lane Kiffin to do something so utterly destructive. And that's what he did ... If he wanted to coach these kids, as he put it, he could have. And the simple answer is he would have remained the Ole Miss football coach... And what does he do? What Lane Kiffin always does. He lights a match to the castle that he built, and he runs out of town in the middle of the night.
Pawwl Finebaum had it been Bama, USC, Ohio State, or Notre Dame
"These schools have an obligation to go out and do the best they can for their student athletes and put the best pieces in place to go with a national championship. They have no responsibility to Ole Miss and their team, they need to do what is best for themselves. It's unfortunate that the circumstances made it so that it played out this way, but that's not ______'s fault, blame the calendar. He's the best coach on the market, and you do what you have to do to get him to your campus."
Yup. They would have praised Florida for hiring kiffin. Said its the next coming of Spurrier, etc. Praised Florida for being open to letting him and his oc coach them in playoffs. Boo ole miss for not letting him coach his players he cares about.
I never bought into the "media/espn/etc. hates LSU" bit. It's feeling kind of difficult to conclude otherwise with this Kiffin BS though.
If you spend any amount of time thinking about the situation like a serious adult and not an emotional child, you understand why things broke the way they did. LSU was not going to wait until mid January to let Kiffin see if he could win a title at Ole Miss or not and then get left twisting in the wind like Penn State is. Ole Miss was not going to let LSU's next head coach hang around for a month recruiting the whole roster in the transfer portal era.
So the bottom line is, Kiffin's two options were to leave for LSU when he did, or to stay at Ole Miss. So if you have a problem with Kiffin leaving, it's because you wanted him at Ole Miss or you didn't want him at LSU. Or you're just ignorant and haven't thought through it for five seconds.
And we know none of these people clutching pearls right now have any love or sympathy for the Mississippi Rebels... and they shouldn't get to hide behind ignorance when their entire job is being informed about this stuff.
They'll hide behind bullshite like "oh, Lane at Ole Miss was a good story." What's so good about it? Lane was the story. Not Ole Miss. How do you know Lane at LSU won't be a good story? What does it even mean to BE a "good story"? That's just another way to say you like how things were and don't like how things are. In other words, you either wanted him at Ole Miss or didn't want him at LSU... see above.
Keep it real... these people don't REALLY like either Lane or LSU. They like both as punchlines not worthy of their respect. Jesters. And to be fair, both parties have given them plenty of ammo over the years. But now this union might result in something truly great, and they're flipping their shite over it. Equal parts eager anticipation for Lane and LSU to fail, so they can go back to mocking laughter, and fear that they won't.
They are like toddlers and need to be treated as such. Its not LSU they are mad about, although they direct their distain toward LSU. They arent smart enough(or they are and just want clicks) to understand its the current system that sucks and needs to change
"I like to hit people hard. You feelin me! I like to tell em where I'm from and hit em hard!" that's what he said and what I want to hear from all of them from here on out.
Not trying to make this a political post, but this whole situation mirrors the current political culture. People are losing their shite over this. There’s so many sports talk people I’ve always kinda followed that just can’t let it go. Acting like this affects their very lives. I’ve seen some absolute insane takes with no facts to base it on. Starting to sound like the dumb broads on The View. It’s just all very slimy.
