I don't see basketball putting out a weekly bracket except maybe third party through lunardi maybe 1 or 2 people. That is a lot of ends up causing the bickering. wait till the season is over then pick the teams. send the shockwave all at once.

100% agree.

It only exists during the season to establish a narrative. On the field I saw a Vandy team that was clearly a playoff team, particularly as the season winded down. The weekly polls told me they weren’t so that I “understood” when they were left out.

This isn’t true anymore

Basketball does the same thing down the stretch of the season

I don't think less transparency is what we need.

They deserve to be ridiculed and called out for hypocrisy.

They lost to Texas and went to OT with Auburn within this last 4 game stretch.

Is there no talk about dissolving the committee in favor of a formula like BCS in conjunction with the expanded playoff?

You want to let the AP and the coaches dictate the narrative?

Basketball it doesn’t matter. Everyone with any hope of winning it gets in.

Their individual votes should be publicly released.

Not really. The teams playing in Dayton are ranked in the 40s after playing ~30 games against a lot of levels of competition.

The teams we are talking about today are 2 loss Miami and Notre dame, who are teams loaded with NFL players.

At least they put their names on their vote.

We don't know what the individual CFP committee members think since the chairman talks in circles and contradicts himself weekly.

Those aren’t the bubble teams. It’d basically be the equivalent of if the CFP released weekly “top-4” rankings.

And 30 years ago, none of those 2-loss teams would even be in the conversation for the mythical national title.

Yeah, ND is top-5 in all of Sagarin, FPI, SP+, F+, etc. ND is ahead of every SEC team in every meaningful power ratings. ND is still tied for 4th to win it all on FanDuel… despite not even being guaranteed to get in, and having to play in the first round and on the road if they do.

Miami isn’t too far behind in the power ratings, and is generally in the same range as A&M, Bama, UGA, Ole Miss, depending on the rating. (Oklahoma is consistently in a much lower tier.)

OSU appears a step above, but it’s not like OSU this year is 2019 LSU. Both Miami and ND could win it all this year if they were to get in, via either another team upsetting OSU to clear the path or by doing it themselves.

Exactly.

And they do it ONE time...one month before the season ends.
